Earlier this week, the Manitoba Real Estate Association (MREA) and the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) were proud to attend and support Manitoba Tipi Mitawa’s Home Purchase Orientation for the Mino’Ayaawag Ikwewag First Nations Housing Program. 🏡💜🩵✨

This important initiative supports First Nations women on their path to homeownership, creating opportunities for stability, economic independence, and stronger futures for families and communities.

We were especially honoured to be joined by Minister Fontaine, whose presence and heartfelt remarks meant a great deal to program participants. Her words powerfully affirmed the importance of this initiative and the role it plays in ensuring First Nations women are seen, supported, and meaningfully included in Manitoba’s housing continuum. Her leadership and continued commitment to advancing housing opportunities for First Nations women is making a real and lasting difference across the province.

The orientation was an inspiring reminder of what is possible when government leadership, strong partnerships, and community-driven solutions come together to remove housing barriers and create real pathways to homeownership.

As a proud partner within the Manitoba Tipi Mitawa program, MREA remains committed to working alongside governments, Indigenous partners, and housing organizations to expand pathways to homeownership while advancing our commitment to reconciliation through stronger partnerships and more equitable housing opportunities.

📊 Manitoba Real Estate Market Starts 2026 on Stable Ground

Manitoba’s housing market saw a slower start to 2026, with 605 MLS® home sales in January, down 19.1 per cent from last year and below long‑term averages. Despite lower sales activity, the average home price rose 6.5 per cent year over year, supported by tight inventory and fewer new listings across the province. Active listings remained well below historical norms, keeping market conditions balanced and continuing to favour sellers as the year begins.
