Gaucin on August morning with early morning mist in the valley. Taken from an ascent of Sierra El Hacho (the local peak to the west). The villa is just below the right shoulder and is the last one on the right.

El Hacho is not normally climbed in the summer due to the warm weather and the dry soil requires care on the descent.

With the current news reports of high temperatures in southern Europe and forest fires, Gaucin has a much 'milder' climate due to its altitude (600m/2000ft) and proximity to the Atlantic Ocean (30 miles/50km).
Even during the recent heatwave in parts of Spain, Gaucin's max temperature for only a couple of days was 37C/98F before returning to 'normal' summer temperatures in this forecast from today (July 25). This is made even more manageable with the villa's air conditioning, shady terrace and swimming pool.
