It’s been a busy couple of weeks entertaining here at Gites Rue Du Chateau - Ruffec and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to end another beautiful summer ☀️ 🥰

Fantastic weather, great company, lots of laughs, good food, and probably far too much b**r and bubbles! 🥂🍻

Our last visitors left today to head back to the UK, and with our ‘Out of Office’ switched on, we’ve been able to enjoy one final dip in the pool before we close it at the end of another successful summer season. 💦 ☀️ 🦩

Thank you to all the fantastic local venues that have helped make the last few weeks so memorable.

Thank you to all our guests, family and friends who have helped make this another fantastic season. We’ve loved having you all and creating some wonderful memories along the way.

Now it’s time for us to wind down and try and get a little time to ourselves 🍂 .

Ian has two very different jobs - by day, he’s my gîte multi-tasking superstar: pool guy, gardener, cleaner, maintenance man, guest concierge… basically doing whatever I tell him. 😇

Then, on occasions, he transforms into another superstar with his guitar and ready to sing 🎤 (a bit like that show ‘Stars In Your Eyes’… Matthew, I’m going to be Strutty!)
…and, naturally, still taking orders…sorry requests from me!! 😉🎸

We will be there with some of our lovely guests and friends staying at Gîtes Rue du Château 🥂 🥳

A last chance for a late summer get-together with friends as we say goodbye to summer and head into autumn 🍂
The weather is still gorgeous, so come and enjoy a delicious pizza, a few drinks and great company in the beautiful setting La Sénéchalerie, Verteuil-sur-Charente.

🎸 Strutty will be entertaining you with some chilled acoustic melodies to start, followed by some more lively tunes to get everyone up and enjoying themselves 💃

We’ll be there with a number of guests from Gites Rue Du Chateau - Ruffec ready for a great evening of music, food, drinks and good times.

Beautiful evening skies to round off the weekend - for us it was meeting up with friends Friday and Saturday, a visit to a local Garden Brocante La chapeliere brocante , where we found a perfect little bistro table for our back steps and a beautiful statue to sit amongst the lavender, and in the evening a gig for Strutty 🎵 🎤 🎸. Then a quiet Sunday, with a little playing around with recycled lampshades to brighten up the darker evenings ahead. ✨🌿💜 …. but not forgetting the chores too, with Ian cleaning the pools and hot tub.. 😇 💦 🥰

🍻 Treating ourselves to a b**r after receiving another fantastic review from a lovely family who came to Ruffec to take part in the Tournoi National du Stade Ruffécois U11 U13 Coupe Cristaline 🏆

It was so lovely to see the excitement, enthusiasm and energy of the boys and the buzz inVille de Ruffec en Charente for the weekend ⚽️

We’ve also been busy getting four gîtes ready and are now all set to welcome our last full house of the summer. 🌞 🛏️ - we hope they have a wonderful weekend and enjoy being part of the wedding celebrations they’ve travelled down for. 💒🥂

And in between all the gîte preparations, we had a last minute visit from some very special people, my dad, daughter and grandson. 🥰❤️

It’s been a busy couple of weeks, well months … but a lovely way to round off what has been a fantastic summer. And now… time for that b**r at La Kava 🍻

I’m not sure we could ask for a better review… 😊
I’m still nervous every time we welcome guests, always hoping that we’ll meet their expectations, so it’s still such a lovely surprise to receive comments like these.
As we start to wind down our fourth summer season and look ahead to our future plans for Gites rue du Chateau, these words mean so much❤️
A huge thank you to this happy, beautiful group of friends and their families for choosing to stay with us … and, of course, to Api 🐶 for being part of the fun.

The walk back to Gîtes, rue du Château, after the night market… 🌙⭐️💛 The ‘Ancient Quarters’ looked particularly beautiful beneath the glow of the town lights…. a little bit magical. ✨

It’s been an incredibly hot summer here in France, and certainly not without its challenges when it comes to keeping our guests as comfortable as possible ☀️🥵

Our two pools have been very much welcomed and very well used 💦

It’s been lovely to see our guests making the most of all our facilities and, more importantly, enjoying the whole concept of staying at Gites Rue du Château. 🧚‍♂️

The days are still reaching the mid-30s, but there’s definitely a change in the air. I can feel the turn as we head well and truly into mid-August and towards the end of our busy season and look forward to the next and a slower pace 🎃 🍂

And we always appreciate it when guests staying in our home recognise the care and effort that goes into making sure they, their families and friends have as comfortable and enjoyable a stay as possible. It a small gesture that genuinely makes our day ❤️

So, a huge thank you to Ben and his lovely family for our latest review. 🥰 Your kind words are very much appreciated and we’re still holding on to our now, 4 year, 5-star run ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😃 🙌
