We finally made it over the finish line. Just some landscaping to complete once these extreme temperatures subside. To take an empty barn dating back to 1700s to a cozy retreat has been challenging but so happy with the result.

Whilst sat enjoying the thunderstorm i thought I'd share a couple of rooms that are very nearly complete , this intense heatwave has cost us nearly a month of renovation time but slow and steady will win the race 😁

To all our guests arriving this summer

Good evening
We wanted to let you know that due to the exceptional drought conditions currently affecting Charente,mandatory water restrictions are now in place from this evening and we are unable to top up the shared pool. At present the pool remains available, but the water level may reduce to being in operational if the extreme weather continues. We are monitoring the situation closely and will keep guests informed.

Yesterday Geoff volunteered as a marshal for the North Charente gravel bike race as the route passed directly by our gates.
As someone who doesn’t speak French, he was a little nervous beforehand — but the organisers and officials could not have been more welcoming or supportive. They had thoughtfully prepared key directions and common questions in both French and English so he could help the cyclists and enjoy being part of the day.
It was such a lovely reminder of the kindness and community spirit here in Charente, and a real pleasure watching so many riders enjoy this beautiful area.
It also reminded us that our corner of North Charente is a wonderful base for cycling holidays. Our gîtes sleep up to 11 guests and we have a dedicated secure storage barn for bikes, making it ideal for cycling clubs, groups or friends looking to explore the area.
Thank you again to everyone involved for making him feel so included — we’d love to welcome visiting cyclists in the future 🚴🇫🇷

After many months of work, restoration, problem-solving and more than a few late evenings… we’re nearly ready to share our newest gîte.

Created from our old stone barn in the heart of Charente, we’ve tried to keep everything we loved about the building — exposed stone walls, original features, beautiful vaulted ceilings — while adding the comfort and warmth of a modern stay.

Every decision has been about preserving the character of the barn and creating somewhere calm, welcoming and a little bit special.

We’re putting the final touches in place over the next couple of weeks before opening bookings and sharing professional photos.

We can’t wait to welcome our first guests and share this beautiful space with you.
