Originally opened in 1860 as the Three Counties Asylum, Fairfield Hospital became one of Britain's most significant Victorian healthcare buildings. Designed by architect George Fowler Jones, it was renowned for its impressive scale and unique architecture, including one of the longest corridors in the country.⁠

Following the hospital's closure in 1999, the Grade II listed building was carefully restored and brought back to life as the centrepiece of Fairfield Park. The regeneration created a vibrant new village of around 1,200 homes, alongside community facilities, green spaces and leisure amenities, including a gym and swimming pool within Fairfield Hall.⁠
