Named Best Glamping site in Devon and the South West. Valleyside Escapes unzipped its doors and welcomed our first glampers on 3 August 2018. Since opening we have picked up multiple awards including a double GOLD award - being honoured as the 'Best glamping site in the South West' at both the 'South West Tourism Excellence Awards' and the Devon Tourism Awards 2023-24. We love welcoming new and returning glampers to our hidden gem to help create holiday memories to last forever! We have three luxury safari tents with picturesque and panoramic views of the Exe Valley. Each tent sleeps up to six and is fully-equipped with electricity, Wi-Fi, small kitchen, outside BBQ, play area and bathroom pod. We are family and dog-friendly and ideal for groups holidaying together. There is a riverside meadow a few minutes walk and on Friday evenings our Mediterranean courtyard bar is open to sample some local Devon tipples. We also have a games room adjacent to our courtyard bar. We are perfectly positioned to explore all that beautiful Devon has to offer.

🎣Matt had a nice surprise on our own private stretch of the River Exe yesterday when he landed this salmon!🐟

He’d already lost one a few minutes earlier when this fish decided to take his nymph – which was actually intended for a brown trout or grayling!

After a good fight on very light tackle, the salmon was safely landed, photographed quickly and released back into the river.

Not a bad way to spend an afternoon in Devon!

🐔 CHICKEN RUN! 🐔We're not quite sure how she managed it, but one of our chickens decided to make a break for it and was eventually found hiding amongst the weeds in the pond!

Cue Matt getting his waders on for a chicken rescue mission... 😂

Thankfully, she's now safely back with her other five feathered friends, and they're all happily getting on with the important job of producing eggs for us (and our glampers!).🥚

Peacock update! 🦚 Our colourful neighbour appears to be feeling the effects of the weather too... his beautiful feathers are shedding a whole month earlier than usual!

The good news? If you’re staying with us towards the end of the summer holidays, you might be lucky enough to find one of his feathers.🪶

We’ve been collecting the ones he’s left behind and popping them in our honesty shop, so you can take a little piece of Valleyside home with you.

New Beach!🏖️With Devon experiencing its 5th heatwave of the summer, a trip to the beach was definitely on the agenda this week!☀️

We decided to try somewhere new and headed to Blackpool Sands in South Devon - around 1 hour 20 minutes from Valleyside Escapes.

It’s a little further to travel, but the beautiful Devon countryside along the way made the journey fly by... and we think it’s well worth it!

🌿 Plenty of space to spread out
☕ Café for refreshments
🔥 And even a sauna!

It wasn’t too busy even in the height of summer and much fun was had on body boards - we will definitely be adding Blackpool Sands to our list of favourite Devon beaches.

🎉8 years of Valleyside Escapes! This week we celebrated 8 years since we unzipped the tents – and we can't quite believe how quickly the time has flown!

When we made our life-changing move to Devon, we had no idea quite how our adventure would evolve. It was a big leap into the unknown, but we wouldn't change a single thing.

And it definitely didn't look like this 8 years ago! 👀 See the empty field where it all began...

We're incredibly thankful to the amazing team who have been with us from the start. We genuinely couldn't do this without them.

We're also so grateful to all of you who have stayed with us over the years – especially those who keep coming back year after year. One of the loveliest parts of what we do is seeing familiar faces return... and watching how much the children have grown since their first visit! 🥰

One of the reasons we moved to Devon to run our own business was the dream of feeling like we were on holiday every day. The reality? Not quite like that but we're incredibly lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world, where exploring the coast and countryside is part of the job – and means we get to discover new places to recommend to our glampers.

Eight years, 10+ awards, lots of adventures and so many wonderful guests later...

Here's to Valleyside Escapes and whatever the next 8 years bring! 🥂💚

Hello August!☀️The month of long days, ice creams, family adventures and making the most of summer.

If you're planning a Devon getaway this month, here are three things that have to be on your summer bucket list:

🍦 Eat lots of ice cream – The Orange Elephant Ice cream Parlour has so many flavours you will have to try more than one!
🌻 Wander through the beautiful sunflower fields at Darts Farm

🏅 Award-winning friends! 🐑 Some of the Black-Nose Valais sheep that graze in our lower paddock enjoyed a successful day at the Mid Devon Show last weekend, bringing home an impressive collection of rosettes – including one 1st, two 2nds, a 3rd and a 4th!

The good news is that six of these friendly sheep are still happily grazing in our field, so if you're staying with us this summer, you will get to see them up close!
