As part of our 40th anniversary celebrations, we wanted to shine a special spotlight on two colleagues whose own journeys with Manningham Housing Association span almost five decades between them – Moazum Hussain and Tracie Naylor.

Their roles may have changed over the years, but their commitment to MHA, our tenants and our communities has remained constant.

Moazum Hussain – 20 years with MHA
Moazum joined Manningham Housing Association in May 2006 as a Rent Accounting Officer. In November 2007, he moved into our Finance team as a Finance Officer, beginning a chapter that has now formed the majority of his remarkable 20-year MHA journey.
He fondly remembers his early Finance years working alongside colleagues including Masoud Khan, Javed Ahmed, Cuthbert Paz, Sajed Miah and Ayesha Khanum – describing those years as “very interesting” and forming friendships that have lasted long beyond their time working together.
Moazum was nominated for recognition during our 40th anniversary celebrations specifically because of his 20 years of service and dedication to MHA.
Those who work alongside him describe him as hardworking, loyal and incredibly knowledgeable; someone who pays close attention to detail, takes pride in completing work to a professional standard and is always willing to support others.
He may often be the person quietly working away in the corner – but anyone who stops for a conversation quickly discovers the humour and personality behind the quiet exterior! And, as our Finance colleagues will know, there is one phrase they have heard more than a few times:
“You know I’m always right!” 😊

Tracie Naylor – 28 years with MHA
Tracie began her MHA journey as a Technical Services Officer and this year celebrates an incredible 28 years with the organisation.
Over almost three decades, Tracie has grown alongside MHA, progressing through regeneration and development roles and today playing a leading part in our growth and regeneration work.
Tracie received two nominations as part of MHA’s 40th anniversary recognition, both highlighting the impact she has made not simply on the organisation, but on the lives of our tenants.
Her colleagues recognised her role in helping MHA bring forward more than 100 new homes in the last three years, meaning more than 100 families have had a new place to call home. They praised the way she has worked tirelessly with developers, helped secure the best outcomes for MHA and played a significant part in putting growth and development firmly back on our agenda.
She has also led one of MHA’s biggest recent projects – the refurbishment of Bank House – managing the investment professionally and diligently while keeping staff and Board members informed throughout.
But perhaps one nomination summed up Tracie best: for her, development has never simply been about numbers or properties. It is about understanding the difference a good home can make to someone’s life.
That same care can be seen through her commitment to dementia awareness and her work to make MHA and our services more dementia-friendly.
From Technical Services Officer to Head of Regeneration and Growth, Tracie’s 28-year journey is an extraordinary example of commitment, professional growth, and service to our communities.

National Inclusion Week 2026 | Hormones 101

As part of National Inclusion Week, colleagues across MHA had the opportunity to join a fascinating and thought-provoking session, Hormones 101, delivered by Kirsty Smith from Natural Rays.

The session explored how hormones influence our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing throughout different stages of life, and highlighted the importance of creating workplace cultures that recognise and support these experiences. From stress and sleep to menstruation, menopause and postpartum health, the discussion encouraged greater understanding, empathy and inclusion for everyone.

A huge thank you to Kirsty Smith for sharing her expertise, personal insights and practical guidance, helping us better understand how hormonal health can impact colleagues both inside and outside the workplace.

We would also like to thank everyone who attended and engaged in the conversation, and to MHA for continuing to support initiatives that promote inclusion, wellbeing and understanding across our organisation.

We concluded the day with a lovely and wonderfully diverse communal lunch, bringing colleagues together to share food, cultures and conversation as part of National Inclusion Week.

40 years of people, places and progress

As part of our 40th Anniversary celebrations, Manningham Housing Association brought together tenants, colleagues, community champions, partners and friends to celebrate the people who have helped shape our journey since 1986.

From recognising outstanding members of our community and staff, to celebrating long service, our founders and the people whose commitment has helped make Manningham what it is today, it was an evening filled with pride, gratitude, and reflection. 💛

A huge thank you to Eyarun Nessa and Barrington Billings for helping make our 40th Anniversary celebration such a special evening. 💛

Eyarun guided us brilliantly through the evening as our host, while Barrington led our awards ceremony with warmth, humour and genuine appreciation for every person being recognised.

Celebrating National Inclusion Week through the inspiring story of the Brontës
Today, as part of our National Inclusion Week programme at MHA, we were privileged to hear from Diane Fare, Outreach Officer at the Brontë Parsonage Museum, who shared the remarkable story of the Brontë family.
Thank you, Diane, for delivering such a fascinating and engaging session. The story of Charlotte, Emily and Anne Brontë is one of resilience, determination and perseverance in the face of significant challenges. Their journey reminds us that talent can come from anywhere and that opportunity, education and inclusion can help people achieve extraordinary things.
A special thank you also to the team at the Brontë Parsonage Museum for helping to preserve and share this important part of Yorkshire's cultural heritage. The museum continues to inspire visitors from around the world and keeps the Brontës' legacy alive for future generations.
National Inclusion Week is an opportunity to celebrate different voices, experiences and stories. Today's session was a powerful reminder of the value of recognising potential, breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for everyone to thrive.

Thank you also to the Brontë Parsonage Museum for preserving and sharing such an important part of our region's history and culture. It was a fascinating and thought-provoking session enjoyed by colleagues across MHA.

What a beautiful evening.

As we celebrate 40 years of Manningham Housing Association, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and shared such a special moment. To our tenants, partners, Board Members, founder members, guests and friends — thank you for being part of our journey and for helping us celebrate four decades of people, place and progress.

And to our incredible staff — thank you for the care, commitment and genuine kindness you bring to Manningham every single day. So much of what makes MHA special happens because of people who truly care, who support one another and who always want the best for our communities.

We feel incredibly lucky to have shared this milestone with so many wonderful people.

We’ve officially kicked off National Inclusion Week 2026 at MHA!
What a fantastic start to the week.
Today, we welcomed Simon Phillips from Leeds Jewish Housing Association hosted by Sayful Alam from MHA, who delivered an engaging and thought-provoking session exploring Leeds' Jewish community, its history, traditions, beliefs and cultural practices, alongside the inspiring Community Linking Project developed in partnership with Manningham Housing Association.

The session offered far more than an introduction to a faith community. Colleagues learned about the rich history of Jewish life in Leeds, the importance of preserving cultural heritage, the role of housing associations in supporting community identity, and the power of relationships in breaking down barriers and building understanding. We also heard how the Community Linking Project has brought residents together through shared experiences, cultural exchange and meaningful conversations, helping to foster friendship, inclusion and community cohesion.

This year's National Inclusion Week theme, "Build Trust. Navigate Change.", could not be more relevant. Today's discussion highlighted how openness, curiosity and genuine dialogue can help bridge differences, challenge assumptions and create stronger, more connected communities.
