Here in our little corner of Somerset, we’re very lucky to be surrounded by some rather lovely places to share with our guests when they come to stay.

Although some of our guests never feel the urge to leave our little heritage holding when they come to Dimpsey, others love to venture out.

The beauty here is that you can do a little bit of both.

There’s something rather special about a handwritten note, don’t you think?

In a world where so much of our lives happens through a screen, we love keeping this little tradition alive at Dimpsey.

A quiet moment to put the phone down, pick up a pen and leave a few words behind. You could share with us a memory from your stay, a favourite moment, or simply how it felt to be here.

Over time, our guestbook becomes a little collection of those moments, written by those who have stayed with us. A rather beautiful record of time spent at Dimpsey.

It’s harvest time at Dimpsey 🩶

The tractors have been busy working away in the fields of the Blackdown Hills, and we’re beginning to harvest in our own ways here at Dimpsey…

From collecting the fresh eggs in the chicken coop for breakfast, to picking the blackberries in the hedgerows and apples from the orchard for late afternoon snacks - not to mention the abundance of produce from Mr W’s veg patch!

It’s the time of year where we find ourselves spending our weekends wandering through farm shops and village markets and filling our bags with an abundance of local produce. As we venture home, we drive through our local hamstone villages, smiling at the harvest displays dotted throughout them.

Returning back to Dimpsey, we turn our local and foraged finds into the perfect simple homemade lunch. Perhaps a ploughman’s will do the trick.

Here in Somerset, harvest is a celebration of everything the land gives us, and we feel rather lucky to have so much of it right here on our doorstep.

A little taste of the season, a little exploring, and plenty of reason to enjoy the countryside at its most generous.
