New rental property registration service coming to England
The UK Government has confirmed that its new ‘Register your rental property’ service will begin rolling out across England from 15 December 2026.
Landlords of assured and regulated tenancies will need to register:
* • Themselves
* • Each occupied rental property
📅 The rollout will happen regionally, with deadlines running through to November 2027.
💷 Registration will cost £65 per property per year.
More guidance is expected in the coming weeks.

The UK property market has reached summer in a healthier and more flexible position than the headlines might initially suggest.

Buyers have a strong selection of homes to explore, sellers who respond to current conditions are continuing to secure moves, and official figures show that average house prices and rents remain above their levels of a year ago.

Rather than viewing the summer as a slowdown, it may be more useful to see it as a market reset. People are still moving, but they are doing so with greater care, clearer priorities and more realistic expectations.

A little break from property for a moment.
July feels like a good time to say hello again, so here are a few things you might not know about me.

Favourite summer drink?
Pale rose or an Aperol Spritz, I genuinely cannot choose.

Go-to BBQ order? Classic burger, every time. No fancy alternatives needed.

Pool or beach? Beach, always.

Camping or hotel? Hotel. I would love to be the kind of person who camps, but it's just not in me.

Favourite ice cream? Anything chocolate. I have a terrible sweet tooth and I'm not even slightly sorry about it.

Sunrise or sunset? Sunset, every time.

Summer bucket list?
A proper all-inclusive at somewhere like Ikos or Sani Resort. The kind of holiday where you do absolutely nothing and it feels completely justified.

Fun fact: watermelon disappears suspiciously fast whenever I'm around.

Flip-flops or trainers? Flip-flops. I'd wear them in January if I could get away with it.

Don't take property advice from your dad.
