A beautiful stay packed with history, and the old settle where travelling drovers once sat and enjoyed their ale is still here today! 🍻

Laylands was originally built as an Inn for drovers travelling from the north with their livestock, making their way to the coast to be shipped across the continent.

Today, this beautiful historic house has been transformed into a spacious stay for up to 10 guests, with views over a conservation area, cosy inglenooks, a huge kitchen and dining space, five bedrooms and a lovely south facing garden.

For anyone whose fancies one last summer escape to the Cornish coast 🤍

The Langley Tarne is a characterful little bolt-hole for two in the heart of Mousehole, just a couple of minutes from the harbour front, galleries, independent shops and some very good places to eat.

Originally a sail loft, the cottage still has plenty of its old character, with stripped wooden floorboards, sash windows, cosy window seats and an open fireplace. There’s also a wonderfully indulgent roll-top bath for two, making it particularly tempting for slower weekends away.

Step outside and you’ve got Mousehole’s narrow streets and harbour right on the doorstep, with Penzance, St Michael’s Mount, Porthcurno and the wider West Cornwall coast all within easy reach.

Sometimes the best way to reset is to go somewhere that feels very far from everything else. 🌿

We’ve picked five of our most secluded stays in Scotland, each offering a slightly different version of disappearing for a while.

Loch Na Bo is set on a private estate near Elgin, surrounded by hundreds of acres of woodland and its own loch, with walking trails, fishing, rowing and a lochside sauna all part of the experience.

Port na Mine sits above the shoreline of Loch Etive in Argyll and Bute, with mountain views towards Glencoe and its own path leading down to the water.

Larch House sits on the southern edge of the Cairngorms National Park, with huge views, a sauna, wood-fired hot tub and access down to the burn for wild swimming.

River Fae, in Glenfinnan, is surrounded by Highland scenery, with a river at the bottom of the garden and views towards the famous steam railway line nearby.

And lovely Corriedow, a former shepherd’s cottage tucked into the rolling glens of Dumfries and Galloway, with 360° countryside views, dark skies and very little to interrupt the peace.
