Fresh Step for Dungannon👠

It’s always encouraging to see investment and confidence in our town centre.

The newly refreshed Solo Shoe Store has officially opened its doors, bringing a stylish look to one of Dungannon’s long established retail businesses.

The striking frontage, modern design and welcoming storefront are a great addition to our streetscape and a reminder that local businesses continue to reinvest in the future of our town.

We wish the team at Solo every success in their new chapter and encourage everyone to call in, have a look around and support another fantastic local business.

This is certainly not what any of us want to see in Dungannon town centre over the next six months 😮

We all understand the importance of bringing gas infrastructure to the west, but it’s vital that the work is carefully managed to minimise disruption for local businesses, residents and visitors.
Let’s hope the project is delivered as efficiently as possible, with clear communication and a strong focus on keeping our town open for business throughout.

“Tonight, beneath the stained glass and soaring arches of St Patrick’s, music echoed through 150 years of faith. We remember with warmth and gratitude all those who have worshipped, served, and prayed here since 1876, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire today.”

This page was set up to bring nostalgia, pride and positive vibes back into our town to remind people of the memories, businesses, characters and community spirit that shaped Dungannon, and to awaken the sense of belonging that still lives in all of us.

Let’s also remember the positives that still exist all around us today. Dungannon continues to have great businesses, large and small , from local supermarkets to independent ice cream parlours, from long-established jewellers and furniture stores to the many new enterprises now investing in our town.
There are businesses here that have supported local jobs, families, charities and commerce for decades, and continue to invest and grow despite changing times. That commitment deserves recognition and support.
Yes, towns evolve and communities change, but our history should teach us that diversity, respect and community spirit can be strengths when people feel connected and proud of where they live.
This page is not about negativity or division. It is about encouraging pride in our town, supporting local, strengthening community spirit and helping create a cleaner, safer and more welcoming Dungannon for everyone who calls it home.
Dungannon is not finished.
It is still our town.
And its best days can still lie ahead.

Two photographs.
One town.
Two very different eras.
Yet both images tell the story of a town still trying to evolve with its people.

The old Market Square reminds us of a time when towns were built around conversation, connection, local trade and community life. People came to town not only to shop, but to meet, belong and spend time together.

Today the streets move differently.
Life moves faster.
Retail has changed.
Habits have changed.
And our town continues adapting to a completely different world.
But perhaps the future is not about returning backwards.
Perhaps it is about helping towns evolve forward , while protecting the community spirit that made them special in the first place.
Strong towns are not simply about buildings or businesses.
They are about people.
The challenge now is helping rethink how our town centres survive, connect and thrive for future generations.
Because when towns remain healthy, communities remain stronger too.

“Strong communities build Strong towns
Strong towns support Strong communities”.
