A few of the kitchens we’ve had the pleasure of bringing to life over the years.

Different homes. Different styles. The same attention to detail.

Over the years, we’ve created kitchens for all kinds of homes, each designed around the people who live there.

A new week, a busy schedule and the team out across Edinburgh and East Lothian.

The best joinery doesn’t need to shout for attention.

It should feel like it was always meant to be there.

There’s so much we love about this room. The bespoke joinery, the warmth of the timber, the rich bronze and charcoal tones and the softer fabrics that bring everything together.

And then there’s the setting.

Settle into one of these seats on a Sunday afternoon and you can look out towards Loch Lomond.

A project we completed two years ago and one we still love.

Originally, our clients thought they needed a larger extension but after looking at the house properly, Mary Carslaw advised against it.

The additional space would have come at the expense of the garden and with some clever internal changes, simply wasn’t necessary.

This is when a great architect is worth their weight in gold.

Instead, the existing extension was completely rethought.

Working alongside Mary, Dean coordinated the build and the specialist trades to bring the design together.

One thing the clients were certain about was the zinc cladding. Keith at Paneltech Scotland Ltd delivered the exterior in VM Anthra standing seam, with the windows framed in VM Pigmento Red.

Against the original Edinburgh sandstone it completely changed the look of the existing extension.

Two years on, it’s still a project we love.

Sometimes the best way to improve a home isn’t to make it bigger. It’s to make the space you already have work better.

Thinking of moving?

Before you start scrolling Rightmove, it might be worth asking a different question.

Do you actually need a new house or do you simply need your current home to work better?

Many of the homes we work on are owned by homeowners and families who already love where they live.

They love the neighbours.
They love the character of their home.
Appreciate the bones of the house.

What they don’t love is the layout.

What makes this space feel so calm?

It isn’t just the materials or the craftsmanship.

It’s the way natural light has been considered from the beginning.

The roof glazing draws daylight deep into the home, bringing the original stonework to life and allowing the character of the building to become part of the everyday living space.

Rather than competing with the original house, the contemporary extension complements it.

Old and new working together.

Projects like this are a reminder that the best results come from collaboration. When architects, clients and craftsmen share the same vision, every detail has a purpose.
