A well-earned round of applause for the team at Aroma Lounge Hatfield...👏

One of their chefs has been representing Old Hatfield on the national stage, competing against fourteen of the UK's best in the ARTA 2026 National Chef of the Year Cook-Off at Cambridge Regional College.

The Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards are known as the Oscars of the curry industry, and the winner will be crowned at a gala evening on Monday 12th October. 🍛

The good news doesn't stop there, as Aroma Lounge has also been shortlisted for ARTA's Regional Restaurant of the Year for Hertfordshire! We'll be cheering them on come October.

If not, you're in luck, because it's back this Sunday 20th September. 🥖

Come along to Salisbury Square from 10am to 2pm to meet local makers, shop for fresh produce, and explore artisan crafts. Dogs on leads are welcome.

Remember our post on Real Tennis earlier this year? Here's your chance to get involved. 🎾

Our community has grown quite a bit since that first post, so for anyone new here: Real Tennis is the oldest racquet sport and the predecessor of modern lawn tennis and squash.

It's played on a unique indoor court, of which there are only 27 left in the UK - and one is at Hatfield Park!

The Hatfield House Real Tennis Club is inviting visitors to try their hand at the sport during a series of introductory open days in the last week of September.

Did you ever see the tank at Hatfield Park?

Many locals will remember the Mark I tank that stood in the Park for fifty years, presented to the 4th Marquess of Salisbury by Winston Churchill in 1919. It was a thank you for the Estate's remarkable role in the First World War, when the grounds became the testing site for the world's first tank, H.M.L.S. Centipede.

If you remember the tank before it left for The Tank Museum at Bovington in 1969, or have family stories passed down about it, the Estate would love to hear from you. Send your memories to [email protected] and help keep this piece of local history alive.

A new memorial marking 110 years since the trials will be unveiled at the Park on Tuesday 15th September. Attendance is free, more details on Hatfield Park's page.

Old Hatfield's own Tim Hastilow has been named a finalist in Wildlife Artist of the Year 2026, and now it's over to us to help him take the title. 🎨

You might remember Tim's work from his pop-up in the window of 38 Fore Street earlier this year. Now, two of his pieces, Curtain Call and Darkadelic, have been selected as finalists in the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation's international competition, which celebrates wildlife art from around the world while raising funds for conservation.

This Sunday 30th August, marks Sustain’s final Sunday run club! 🏃

Calling all young explorers... there's still one last chance to join Wilderness Weekends at Hatfield Park. 🌲

From Friday 28th to Sunday 30th August, from 11am to 4pm, the Camp Wilderness team will be located at the start of the Woodland Walks, offering a series of hands-on outdoor activities for young visitors.

Children can test their aim with archery, learn the technique of tomahawk throwing (both suitable for ages eight and above), and weave their own paracord bracelet to take home. 🏹

All activities are included with a Park and Gardens admission ticket, so families can combine a new outdoor skill with a summer day out exploring the Park.

We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the stalls, as well as meeting the locals and visitors who came to join us - here are a few photos showing what was on offer.
