Roary the Qualis Lion, created by talented artist Sarah Emily Porter is complete, and ready to join the pride of lions that will be roaming Epping Forest and Harlow districts this summer.

Lions on the Loose is a collaboration between St Clare Hospice, Wild in Art and local businesses and organisations who have sponsored the lions.

Sarah has made this video explaining her inspiration behind Roary, who will be up for auction in September to raise much needed funds for St Clare Hospice.
For eight weeks, starting in July the Lions will roam the streets, parks and open spaces of Epping, Loughton and Harlow.

The event launches on 24 July and ends on 10 September. In September the unique sculptures will be auctioned off to raise much needed cash for the hospice.

Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June) is a great opportunity to celebrate our employees who volunteer in a host of ways.

Qualis Property Solutions employees get two days paid volunteer leave a year, or a pro rata equivalent for part-time workers. This can be taken as full days, half days, or blocks of at least one hour by an individual or team.

Volunteering activities have included: helping at the local food bank, repainting a community centre and wrapping and delivering donated Christmas gifts to families in need.

Sometimes it’s not just about the work our maintenance teams carry out, but how they make our customers feel.

Stephen visited a mutual exchange property to do an important inspection, ensuring everything was checked thoroughly and the customer was reassured about the move.

While completing the checks, he took the time to be kind, respectful, and supportive, creating a positive experience for the customer and her family.

Afterwards we received this feedback:
“Stephen was extremely polite and kind to my mum, did his checks, was lovely. I cannot speak highly enough about him and how kind he was. Please tell him thank you.”

Customers are showing their appreciation of the new My Qualis Portal which allows them to raise non-emergency repairs to their homes 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

⭐ “Found it really easy and straightforward to use.”
⭐ “Raised multiple jobs and find it easy to use.”
⭐ “So easy to use and can access any time you need rather than waiting until 9am to report an issue.”

These are just some of the comments fed back to us by satisfied customers.

We have also received valuable feedback on areas we can continue to improve, such as making some repair categories easier to find and adding more self-service options in the future.

My Qualis was designed in response to Epping Forest Council tenants telling us they wanted more flexibility in reporting non-urgent repairs and being able to track them.

A vulnerable customer had trouble with the stopcock in their home and were worried about not being able to turn the water off!

Dan and Kevin attended and discovered the mains water supply in the street needed to be turned off before they could do any repairs.

They renewed the stopcock, replacing the kitchen lever valves and fitting new basin taps. They made sure everything was fully tested and working safely before they left having carefully and sympathetically explained what they had done and why.

Afterwards he customer shared this heartfelt feedback:
“Dan and Kevin were brilliant. Efficient, experienced and an extremely kind and caring couple of guys. Being disabled I really appreciated their kindness.”

Forest Radio is now able to broadcast to a wider audience across West Essex since it secured new licences funded by a grant from Qualis Community Benefit Fund.

The radio station was set up in 1976 by a band of volunteers to broadcast to patients and staff at Forest Hospital, Buckhurst Hill.

Throughout its 50-year history, Forest Radio has been run entirely by volunteers and is a registered charity.

Nowadays its reach goes beyond NHS corridors, providing entertainment to hospitals and long-term care facilities, homes and care homes across West Essex.

This has been made possible by the move to DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting). Qualis awarded £3,976 from its Community Benefit Fund which supports local initiatives in the Epping Forest District

Everyone living in Epping, Harlow, and the surrounding areas can now hear the programmes on digital radio, and around 1,350 people are tuning in.

The move to DAB means the charity can begin to generate income from advertising and sponsorship which will support a more sustainable financial future.

We've granted £4,000 to a charity helping young people in local schools deal with things like exam stress, bullying, friendship issues and problems settling at school.

Talk2Nish Peer Mentors provides mental health support to young people across Epping and surrounding areas by training sixth formers and an adult coordinator to be mental health peer mentors to fellow students in their secondary school.

The grant will support four more rounds of training which costs £1,000 a time

A broken fence in the back garden was distressing one of our customers as they felt their garden/home were no longer safe.

Lee attended to repair the damaged fence. He replaced four posts and fitted three new 5-foot fence panels to ensure the boundary was secure.

The customer said they felt reassured and shared this feedback:
“Lee was fantastic at his job, very skilled & explained everything to me. Super polite, friendly”
