♻Local Donation♻

Following a recent spring clean of our storeroom at one of our current jobs, we identified a number of materials that were no longer suitable for use on site.

Rather than seeing them go to waste, we were pleased to donate these items to Suffolk New College, where they will support hands on learning within the college’s multi skilled operative training facilities.

It’s great to know these materials will continue to add value, helping develop practical skills and supporting the next generation of talent. A small change that makes a positive impact in our local community🙌

👏Apprenticeship Completion👏

We are pleased to highlight Dylan, who joined Onyx Solutions in November 2021 as our very first plumbing apprentice, already holding a Level 2 qualification in Plumbing.

Last month, Dylan successfully qualified as a Gas Safe Engineer, marking a major milestone in his career!

Since joining the team, he has continued to develop his skills and has become a valued and well‑liked member of the Onyx team.

Interesting fact: Dylan has an identical twin who is also a plumber👨‍🔧

🏗Project Handover Complete🏗

We are pleased to have supported EPPH on the successful handover of Phases 1B and 2 of a primary school mechanical works project, delivered while keeping all other services live during the RAAC removal.

As part of the EPPH Group, Onyx assisted EPPH with the delivery of this intricate scheme, contributing resource, expertise, and on-site support to help ensure a smooth and timely completion.

The completed works included:
✅New hot and cold water services, trace heating, and drainage to temporary classrooms on the playing field
✅Phased strip-out and replacement of domestic, heating, and gas pipework across the school, while keeping other services live
✅ Installation of new sanitaryware to all WC areas
✅Upgrades to LST radiators
✅Mechanical heat recovery systems to all classrooms
✅New ventilation to WC areas
✅Air conditioning installations to selected areas
✅Mechanical upgrades to the commercial kitchen

It has been great to play a supporting role alongside EPPH on this project, reinforcing the strength of collaboration within the group. We are proud of the contribution made by the Onyx team and look forward to continuing to add value across future stages and projects.

🏗️Monday Morning Progress Update🏗️

Our team have been progressing on the installation of a new footpath, which will soon create a smooth, direct link between the office block and the existing site walkway. A small change that will make a big difference to everyday access.

The planned path stretches around 67 metres and 1.2 metres wide, and the crew has already made strong progress:
✅Marked out and excavated the full route to formation level
✅ Installed Terram membrane to stabilise and protect the ground
✅ Fitted timber edging to frame the new walkway
✅ Placed and compacted Type 1 aggregate to build a durable, long‑lasting base

It’s always great to see a project start to come to life, and this one is coming along brilliantly. Stay tuned for more updates as the path continues to take form!

🏆Project Completion🏆

Onyx is pleased to announce the successful completion of our works at the Percy Mason public conveniences, delivered in partnership with EPPH on behalf of East Suffolk Council.

Our team carried out a focused programme of external and fabric improvements, including:
✨ External decoration of timber cladding and external bollards
✨ Removal of damaged ceilings, followed by re‑plastering and redecoration to toilet cubicle ceilings
✨ Full overhaul and repair of all doors
✨ Replacement of timber roof capping and damaged gutter boxing
✨ Cleaning of roofs, patio areas, and all external cladding

These works formed a key part of the wider refurbishment project, helping to restore the facilities after fire damage and improve the overall appearance and durability of the building.

A big thank‑you to East Suffolk Council and to EPPH for the collaborative effort in bringing this project to a high standard.

🚧 Project Completion – Safety & Access Improvements 🚧

We are proud to share another successful project delivered by our team, enhancing workplace safety, compliance, and operational efficiency for our client across both office and warehouse environments.

As part of this project, we completed:
✅Installation of four FD30 final exit door sets, including push bars and full ironmongery, improving fire safety and providing secure, compliant evacuation routes.
✅New safety railings and pedestrian gates throughout the warehouse, ensuring clear segregation between pedestrians and vehicle movement for a safer working environment.
✅ Strategic installation of protective steel bollards to safeguard structural assets and clearly define traffic routes within high‑activity areas.
✅Application of durable floor line markings, clearly identifying walkways, vehicle lanes, and storage zones to boost organisation and reduce onsite risk.

This was a great effort from the team all round and another step forward in creating safer, more efficient workplaces.
