One weekend, the grounds of Lincoln Castle are hosting major rock and pop acts. Another, elite cyclists are powering up the cobbles of Michaelgate. Then the Cathedral Quarter is transformed into an extraordinary world of Victorian-inspired fashion, creativity and science fiction.

The 2026 Asylum Steampunk Festival took place from Friday 28th to Monday 31st August, bringing thousands of visitors from across the world to Lincoln’s historic uphill streets.

It is described as the largest and longest-running Steampunk event in the world, and when you see the imagination and detail that go into these fabulous outfits, it is easy to understand why. I couldn’t resist asking a few of those attending if they would join me for a photograph!

Lincoln also staged the 70th Rapha Lincoln Grand Prix on Sunday 10th May and welcomed the opening stage of the Tour of Britain on Wednesday 2nd September. Earlier in the summer, Lincoln Castle hosted live performances from acts including Madness, Deacon Blue, Bowling For Soup and Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls.

History, live music, world-class cycling and wonderfully eccentric characters, sometimes all within the shadow of the Cathedral.

Just another reminder that Lincoln is so much more than a beautiful historic city. It is a genuinely exciting place in which to live, work and spend time.

When I first met the owner of this rather gorgeous Italian sports car, I cheekily suggested that if I successfully sold their joint barn development, perhaps I might be rewarded with a passenger-seat experience around the country lanes of Lincolnshire.

Well, when we recently met again, he hadn’t forgotten his promise!

The Alfa Romeo 4C’s mid-mounted 1.75-litre turbocharged engine, producing around 280 bhp in this particular car, exploded into life just behind our seats. For the next 15 minutes, the sound of that engine, accompanied by my broad smile and occasional nervous laughter, could probably be heard by every cow and creature in the surrounding fields!

A genuinely exhilarating experience and certainly one of the more memorable rewards of selling a property. Thank you for keeping your promise!

It reminded me that being a personal agent is never just about bricks and mortar. It’s the people you meet along the journey who make it so refreshingly worthwhile.
