I’ve got family visiting us from the UK at the minute and something they keep doing is converting EVERYTHING back into pounds.

Meals out. Coffee. Days out. Clothes. Drinks.

And what is their verdict?

They keep saying how much cheaper things feel here than they expected! And they say home has become so much more expensive!

And this is something I’ve said for ages. But some people will argue otherwise.

So what’s your opinion?

And I feel like you can only truely answer if you’ve visited both countries in recent years!

🔔🚐 CARAVAN UPDATE 🔔 🚐

We moved to Australia because we wanted more.

And apparently moving to the other side of the world wasn’t enough for us 😂🇦🇺

One of the biggest reasons we wanted to travel around Australia was actually the same reason we became expats in the first place…

We wanted to see what else was out there.

When you move here from the UK or Ireland, it’s so easy for Australia to eventually just become… normal life.

School runs. Work. Washing. Food shops. Kids arguing. Same s**t, significantly better weather 😂

And somewhere along the way we realised we’d moved our families across the bloody world but had barely scratched the surface of the country we now call home.

So we wanted to go and actually LIVE in it.

To show the boys more than our little corner of Australia.

To swim on the Great Barrier Reef.
Drive through tiny outback towns.
Meet people living completely differently to us.
See the places we’d saved on Instagram for years.
And probably make a few questionable decisions along the way 😂

And I think that’s something a lot of expats will understand.

Moving abroad does something to you.

Once you’ve proved to yourself that life doesn’t have to look one particular way, it’s quite hard to stop asking…

“What else could we do?”

That’s really what Mamas Down Under has always been about too.

Not telling everyone to pack their bags and move to Australia.

Just three mums who did it ourselves, sharing what we’ve learned, showing you what life over here actually looks like and helping the women sitting back home wondering:

“Could we do that too?”

So yes, there’ll be visas, schools, jobs, rentals and all the useful moving-to-Australia stuff…

But we also want to show you the life on the other side of the move.

The normal bits.
The unbelievable bits.
The homesick bits.
The “how the f**k is this our life?” bits.

And now… quite a lot of Australia along the way 🇦🇺😂

You don’t need to decide to move to Australia. But you should probably find out if you could 🇦🇺

Because if Australia has been getting brought up in your house for the last 5 years every time it rains, someone has a s**te day at work or you see another family living their best life over here 😂… maybe it’s worth actually finding out.

We know the drill.

“We’d love to move to Australia BUT…”

What about the kids?
What about our jobs?
Would we even get a visa?
Are we too old?
What would we do with the house?
How the f**k do you even start? 😂

And before you know it, another year passes and you’re still saying “maybe one day.”

All three of us were once on that side of the world having these exact conversations.

Now our kids are casually spending their childhood swimming around places like Lady Musgrave Island 🥹😂

Mental.

And no, that means absolutely f**k all about whether Australia is right for your family.

But if you keep thinking about it…

Find out if you actually could.
