☀️ The sun is shining, and it’s particularly important for older people to stay cool. Follow these tips to keep healthy and happy during this spell of hot weather ☀️

🕰️ Avoid spending too much time outside if you can, especially during the hottest part of the day (11am - 3pm).

👒 Wear light-coloured and loose-fitting clothing, and try to wear a hat if going outside.

🧴 Make sure to reapply sunscreen regularly if going outside.

🧊 Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day, not just when you’re thirsty.

🥂 Try to cut back on caffeine and alcohol as these can dehydrate you.

🪟 Keep windows and curtains closed during the day and open them when the temperature drops in the evening and early morning.

💧Running cold water over your wrists and ankles can help reduce your body temperature slightly, a great way to cool down when you’re overheating.

💊 Remember to check the label on your medication - most medication should be kept below 25C so try and keep it in the coolest room in your property.
