Landlords, this is one change you'll want to keep an eye on.

The government plans to begin rolling out the new Private Rented Sector (PRS) Database from late 2026 as part of the Renters' Rights Act reforms.

The aim is to create a national register of landlords and rental properties, helping improve transparency and support compliance across the private rented sector.

Here's what we know so far:

✅ Registration is expected to become mandatory for private landlords in England
✅ Rental properties will need to be registered on the new system
✅ Local authorities will gain additional tools to support enforcement
✅ The database will bring together key information relating to landlords, properties and compliance requirements

While further details are still being released, now is the time for landlords to start preparing and ensuring their records and compliance documentation are up to date.
