Today was Dolly Day at Crownlee! Residents had a fun time celebrating the life, music and legendary style of the late and rather great, Dolly Parton 💕🎶

Organised by Lynn, there was a Dolly-themed quiz, music, and plenty of opportunities to embrace the sparkle, with residents invited to don their best blonde wigs and glittery outfits 👱‍♀️✨

🍂 We’re almost into the cooler ‘ber months now, but what a fun-packed summer we’ve had across Fairhaven communities in Lancashire!

🎂 We’ve celebrated some big and beautiful birthdays,
🎨 Crafted our afternoons into some fabulous makes,
🎺 Had a brass band visit for some rousing tunes at Candlemakers’ Court,
🎲 Enjoyed games afternoons,
⚽️ Watched and supported as the mighty Three Lions took on the world,
🌸 Won prizes for an In Bloom competition,
🚌 Enjoyed trips to Oswaldtwistle Mills, St Anne’s, and Lytham,
🍽️ Had family dinner days, including a spectacular Italian feast at Crownlee prepared by Chef Janet, with Lynn…

So many summer memories have been made, friendships celebrated, and much fun had.

That’s retirement living, exactly the way you want it to be, and the way our Fairhaven family lives it every single day 🫶

🎨 Our creative residents at Crownlee have been designing their own personalised initial displays.

Each initial has been coloured and decorated, before being placed in a picture frame and finished with lots of sparkling diamante gems.

The results are these beautiful and bespoke keepsakes!

A rainy evening, a brass band, and a beautiful rainbow finale at Candlemakers’ Court in Clitheroe!

What started as a lovely outdoor evening at Fairhaven took an unexpected turn last week when, quite literally as the band played their first note, the rain began to fall! ☔

Our residents and the Balderstone Brass Band - with some fantastic members of Chorley Band helping out - quickly dashed inside and set up again, and the music played on! 🎺🎵

Despite another shower as the band headed home, everyone had a brilliant evening. And just to give us the perfect finale, a beautiful rainbow appeared over Fairhaven 🌈

Even better, our residents’ generous donations to the band raised a magnificent £93 👏

A huge thank you to the band and everyone who helped make it such a memorable evening! ❤️

🌞🌑 Look up tonight!

Tonight brings one of the most spectacular solar eclipses visible from the UK in decades. And here in Lancashire, we’re in a great spot to see it!

The Moon will pass in front of the Sun, covering more than 90% of the Sun in parts of Lancashire. In Blackpool, the eclipse reaches its maximum at around 7.09pm, creating a wonderfully strange moment as daylight fades and the sky takes on an eerie glow. 🌅

If you’re watching, remember never look directly at the Sun without properly certified eclipse glasses or other appropriate eye protection. 🕶️

And a quick warning if you’re planning to take photos: don’t point your phone camera directly at the Sun for prolonged periods without a suitable solar filter, as this can damage the camera sensor.

Ta-da! 🤩

Here’s the shiny new Silver Award plaque that Crownlee’s community garden won at Penwortham In Bloom this year, in place on a bench in the community gardens.

A huge thank you to Crownlee residents Gwyneth, John, and George for their beautiful and creative display. A much deserved win! 🌟

Fairhaven’s Candlemakers’ Court enjoyed a gloriously sunny coffee morning yesterday.

It was well attended by residents, and even Jasper the dog joined in 🐾

Bloomin’ marvellous! 🌸 🤩

We are celebrating two fantastic achievements in this year’s Penwortham in Bloom awards.

🏆 Huge congratulations to Crownlee resident George, who has been awarded Gold in the Hanging Basket category. This is a wonderful recognition of his hard work and beautiful display 👏

Congratulations also to Crownlee Community Centre, which has received a Silver Award in the Community Venue category.

A massive thank you to Gwyneth, John and George for their care and beautiful design work 🫶
