My Go-To Cheese Spot for Over a Year! 🧀
I’ve been a regular at Pickles of Preston Indoor Market Hall for well over a year now, and it’s genuinely one of the best finds on the market. This family-run stall, established back in 1972, has become my reliable source for everything cheese related and they never disappoint.
The range is fantastic: beautiful Lancashire cheeses, crumbly locals, bold blues, mature cheddars, and a rotating selection of continental specials that keep things exciting. Whether I’m building a cheese board for friends, grabbing something quick for lunch, or stocking up on their excellent chutneys, olives, honey, and eggs, the quality is consistently top-notch and fresh.
And the butter is a must-try their local butter (made with milk from farms around Lancashire, 80% butterfat) is absolutely outstanding. Rich, creamy, and full of flavour, it elevates everything from fresh bread to cooking. I grab a pack every visit and it freezes brilliantly too.
Nikki and the team are absolute stars friendly, knowledgeable, and always up for a chat or recommendation. They’ve sorted me out with perfect picks for gifts, hampers, and even celebration cheese cakes for special occasions.
In a year+ of regular visits, I’ve never had a bad experience. The stall has that wonderful bustling market vibe you can smell the cheese (and butter!) as you approach – and it’s great value for the premium stuff you get. If you love proper, artisan dairy, this is the place.
