So you’ve submitted your SFS application, but what’s next?

Rural Payment Wales have recently added the SFS Universal Action Dashboard to your RPW Online account and you will need to make sure all the Universal Actions are ticked off by the 15th January 2027.

Key points:
• Make sure you can access your RPW Online account and have created a new Gov.UK One Login
• Familiarise yourself with the SFS Dashboard and the requirements of each Universal Action
• Ensure at least 20% of your fields are soil sampled and the results uploaded to the RPW Online SFS Dashboard
• Register with Farming Connect to start doing your 6 hours CPD (Continuous Professional Development)
• Carry out Benchmarking, either through FARMDATA+ or other eligible software
• Contact your vet to book in your Animal Health Improvement Cycle and Risk Assessment visits.
• Ensure you’re managing your Habitat Land in accordance with the Habitat Rules.
• Establish any Temporary Habitat that you put on your SAF

Failure to complete all the Universal Actions and update your Dashboard will result in penalties on your SFS payment.

Bringing together farmers, landowners, advisers and industry stakeholders from across the sector, the event provides an opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities currently facing UK agriculture, from policy reform and environmental schemes to farm business resilience and productivity.

The near-final details of SFI26 have now been published.

The first application window is expected to open from 30 June for eligible small farms and those without an existing Environmental Land Management (ELM) revenue agreement, with a further application window expected later in the year.

The latest guidance allows farmers and land managers to review the available actions and begin considering which options may best suit their business.

If SFI26 forms part of your future plans, now is a good opportunity to familiarise yourself with the scheme ahead of applications opening. If you're reviewing your options under SFI26, our Rural Professional team is on hand to help.

Poultry keepers in England may be eligible for funding towards a veterinary biosecurity review.

The Poultry Biosecurity Review scheme provides £430 towards a vet visit, giving poultry businesses practical, tailored advice on reducing disease risk and strengthening on-farm biosecurity.

With avian influenza remaining a concern across the sector, the review offers an opportunity to assess current measures and identify areas for improvement.

**Please note that this funding is available to eligible poultry holdings in England only.**
