This new-build family home has been designed to sit effortlessly in its surroundings. Bringing together timeless architecture with a contemporary twist, it’s proof that a new build home can have all the character and charm of one that’s stood there for years!

*𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗡𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻*

I am proud and excited to share that our very own Shay Hanlon has been shortlisted in the Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Apprenticeship Awards. Shay has been recognised for his contributions in the Creative & Media Category, standing out in a final group of three.

Both Shay and Ash are currently undertaking Apprenticeship roles at Studio3, and I have been deeply impressed by their efforts, attention to detail, and understanding of creative influence.

Shay has not only been awarded two distinctions over two categories within his course, but has also already secured several planning approvals through his creative design solutions. He has also impressively developed his own App for 3D modelling enhancements and presentations to clients and stakeholders. We are now exploring how to roll this out across the practice and refine it further.

The awards ceremony will take place on October 8th, and we wish all nominees the best of luck. It promises to be a fantastic evening!

Great to see the new Harbour Master’s building really taking shape on this landmark Welsh harbourfront.

Watching a project move from concept to reality is always rewarding. We’re proud to be part of a development that will serve the harbour, support the local community, and contribute to the continued regeneration of this iconic waterfront.

𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗹 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 🐿️

We were invited to help a local primary school bring their architectural imaginations to life, and honestly, we were blown away.

The Red Squirrel class had been learning about materials and building. So we set them a challenge. They designed the houses, we built them in 3D.

The briefs were bold. The material choices were brave. The presentation of drawings? Genuinely impressive. These kids understood more about design than they probably realise.

It was one of the most enjoyable projects we've taken on in a long time, and a good reminder of why good design starts with curiosity and confidence, not convention.

𝗥𝗲𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗮𝗱...

Unfortunately our client had planning refusal with their first agent.

The proposal met the clients needs, but the design clashed with the original cottage, diluted its character and was far to significant in mass.

Queue a clean slate! We have created a matching mass to the original cottage and positioned it to the rear and staggered with the build line.

A glazed link ground and first floor then provides the required flow to each element.

Contrasting materials and window designs highlight the cottages character whilst creating a contemporary, elegant evolution capable of standing on its own as a piece of considered Architecture.

Informal preapp advice has give us the green light for planning!

𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻.

Every great design starts with a conversation. This project began by understanding our clients’ wants, needs, and aspirations. From those early discussions, we explored a series of sketches and massing studies, testing ideas and refining the relationship between the existing house and the new extension.

These progression sketches offer a glimpse into the journey from initial concept to developed design, showing how ideas are explored and refined to create a home that is both practical and personal to the people who will enjoy it every day.
