BREAKING: We finally have some clarity on the PRS Landlord Database

After months of waiting for more detail, the Government has now confirmed that the new Private Rented Sector Database / Register Your Rental Property service will begin rolling out from 15 December 2026.

The rollout will start in the West Midlands, before being introduced across other regions over the following 12 months.

The good news for landlords here in Swindon?
We’re not in the first wave, so there is a little more time to get prepared.

The database will require landlords to register themselves and their rental properties, with information expected to include property details and key safety information such as Gas, Electrical and EPC certificates. There will also be an annual registration fee.

So, whilst there’s no need to panic, now is a good time to get your paperwork and property information in order.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on the rollout and sharing updates as we get them, particularly around when Swindon will be called forward and what landlords will actually need to do.
