The Landlords Database has been announced by the Government yesterday.

The regional registration deadline for the South West is 14 November 2027.

Cost will be £65 per property, annually.

All landlords must sign up to new, simple ‘Register your rental property’ service as it rolls out across the country.

Our job very often has it's challenging aspects, variety is the spice of life, they say. People certainly keep you on your toes in the heady world of lettings. This morning a lovely outgoing tenant came into the office to hand back keys - she had been an exemplary tenant and we are sorry to see her relocate to a different part of the UK for work. She gave me these below and was tearful saying we had changed her life. Sounds dramatic but she had been through some challenges and she said we had helped with providing a secure, lovely property and been caring and professional in our handling of her tenancy. I confess to shedding a tear with her - the heat is making me emotional! Thank you lovely lady.

If you own a rental property, this is your reminder:
The Renters’ Rights Act comes into force on 1 May 2026.
Key deadline:
🗓 30 April 2026 – Last day to serve a Section 21 notice.
After this, possession rules change significantly and compliance obligations increase.
