⭐Capital Grants 2026 ⭐

We have now received further guidance from Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) on the Capital Grants 2026 offer, which is expected to open for applications in July and carries a confirmed budget of £225 million for 2026.

The categories from the 2025 round remain in place, along with the same funding limits:

▪️Up to £25,000 for the air quality, natural flood management and water quality groups
▪️Up to £35,000 for the boundaries, trees and orchards group

There are some item changes to note. TE6: Tree guard (tube and mesh) has been removed from the 2026 offer and replaced by TE19: Tree guard (narrow weld mesh). There have also been updates to the specifications for tree guard items TE7 and TE8.

With the capital items and payment rates now confirmed, now is the time to start preparing ahead of the July opening.

📢FINAL CALL FOR LANDLORDS

Residential landlords must provide all tenants with a copy of the Renters’ Rights Act Information Sheet no later than 31 May 2026.

The Renters’ Rights Act, which came into force on 1 May 2026, automatically converted all Assured Shorthold Tenancies into Assured Tenancies and introduced new rules for private residential lettings.

The Information Sheet explains how these changes affect each tenant’s agreement and their rights under the new legislation. 👇🏽

The sale was held on behalf of our long-standing client Birdsall Farms Ltd, a Pontefract-based farming family.

The four-day online auction attracted over 3,500 prospective buyers and nearly 22,000 catalogue views, with results exceeding expectations across the machinery, tools and equipment.

⏰Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF) 2026 application window EXTENSION⏰

The Rural Payments Agency has confirmed that the Farming Equipment and Technology Fund 2026 application window has been extended until midday on Tuesday 12 May 2026.

The items available, specifications and scoring remain the same. Applicants can submit one application for each of the three themes:

▪️Productivity
▪️Slurry Management
▪️Animal Health and Welfare

Items available with FETF include direct drills, tree shears, mobile livestock handling systems and dribble bars.
