It may sound casual but it’s serious..
Because we all know how this story goes.

Rainy season comes.

The tank starts leaking small…

“Leave am, e never bad.”

Water pressure drops…

“Maybe na current .” 😂

Pump starts making that strange krrrrrrr sound…

“It will manage.”

Nigerians, we need to stop doing this thing. 😂

The rain starts falling → nobody cares about the leaking roof.

Water tank starts acting funny → “It’s still managing.”

Water pressure drops → “Maybe NEPA took light.” 😂

Pump starts making strange noise → “Let’s see if it will stop.”

Then the rain stops…

Suddenly:

“Ah! We need to fix this thing.”

Now the plumber is busy.
The technician is busy.
The pump has developed another problem.
The tank stand is looking suspicious.
And everybody wants it fixed TODAY.

This is the part many people don’t think about:

The rainy season is actually a good time to notice problems.

Water is flowing.

Not every property needs a borehole.

Yes, we said it. 👀

When people have a water problem, the first solution that often comes to mind is:

“Let’s drill a borehole.”

But before you spend money drilling, there are a few questions you should answer.

How much water do you actually need?

A family of five doesn’t have the same water demand as a hotel, factory, school or residential estate.

What is your location?

Groundwater conditions vary from place to place. What works well on one property may not be the same story somewhere else.

Do you need a permanent water source?

Or do you only need water occasionally?

What’s your budget and timeline?

Depending on the situation, options could include a borehole, an existing well, water delivery/trucking, or improving an existing water system.

The mistake is choosing the solution before understanding the problem.

Think about it this way:

Problem → Assessment → Options → Decision.

Not:

Problem → “Let’s drill.” 😂

A good water solution starts with understanding what the property actually needs.

Three water outages in one quarter.

Imagine managing you work in a facility where people depend on a reliable water supply every single day.

Then the water stops.

You call someone.

The problem gets fixed.

Everything goes back to normal.

That’s exactly the kind of situation that makes a facility manager frustrated.
