"Presently, the economy is subdued, but there are enough positive signs indicating it is ready to start its next growth cycle, which in turn will lead to the leash on house prices and rents being loosened."

The number of homes for sale on a monthly basis is as high now as it has been at any period in the last 18 years and it is credited with being a major contributor to keeping house prices from increasing.

Auckland's housing market recorded its strongest June in five years!

📈 890 properties sold – the highest June sales volume in five years
🔑 Strong buyer demand continued, particularly for homes under $750,000
🏡 67 properties sold for more than $2 million – the second-highest monthly total this year

"It points to the market being in a state where buyers are active and vendors understand that with high levels of stock available for sale, they need to be realistic about sale price," said Peter Thompson, Managing Director of Barfoot & Thompson.
