Still got the original aluminium frames in your home? They probably don't meet today's Building Code requirements.

Aluminium windows were once the standard, but building requirements around energy efficiency and thermal performance have improved significantly and older aluminium frames simply weren't designed to meet them. If you're renovating or extending, that gap can catch homeowners out.

uPVC is a straightforward retrofit fix: better insulation, better thermal performance, and built to exceed the current building code, without compromising on the finish.

If you're planning a renovation, it's worth checking whether your existing frames would pass muster today.

Nothing goes to waste in our factory.

Every offcut from manufacturing, from the small trims to the larger drops, gets collected, ground down, and fed straight back into the extrusion line to become new uPVC profile. Ken's walking through the stages here: the chips, the larger pieces, the smaller pieces, and the grind that's ready to be re-extruded.

Our uPVC recycling journey is circular. The uPVC frame material we use is reprocessed and reused in new window profiles, again and again, so offcuts become part of the next frame instead of landfill.

Recycled content isn't an add-on for us. It's built into how our profiles are made.

We were proud to be one of the main sponsors of the eHaus - Redefining the way we live Conference in Wellington, spending yesterday with their awesome team.

From hearing Kara Rosemeier, visiting the Harvey Norman New Zealand Commercial Centre, to braving the Wellington weather at an eHaus under construction, there was plenty to take in.

One of the highlights was getting a fascinating look inside the new Te Rua Archive Building, including an impressive 38 massive base isolators designed to help protect the building in an earthquake. An incredible piece of engineering!

A huge thank you to the eHaus team for an incredibly well-organised conference. It was great to spend time with the team and see some amazing projects.

Resident Builder Peter Wolfkamp chats with Terry Bryers of Bruyère Passive Homes about all things Ambiance by STÄRKE windows and doors.

Based in Auckland, Terry is a certified Passive House builder, who sees Passive House as a template for how homes should be built in the future. For previous builds, Terry was importing uPVC windows and has just finished installing Ambiance by STÄRKE windows and doors on his latest project.

The pair discuss why uPVC is such an easy choice for New Zealand homes, how these systems block out noise and keep homes warm year-round, and walk through the ease of installation on site. Terry also gives a demo of the tilt and turn window, and the two get into the real details: what the process looks like from start to finish, and what it costs compared to importing uPVC systems.

You'll get to tour an eHaus while the build is still in progress, and get a unique look at the structural mechanics, thermal performance, and high-performance craftsmanship.
