Hills Road Mews: construction update, week ending 22 May 2026.

A good week on site at 66 Hills Road, Edgeware.

Monday 11 May: the raft sub-grade was completed and compacted by Diggers NZ. The platform that the entire slab system sits on, done and signed off.

Wednesday 20 May: the insulation pods and formwork are in across the full footprint of all seven homes. Drainage and plumbing services are roughed in through the slab. The reinforcement grid is in place. Everything ready for the concrete.

Pour day is Tuesday 26 May.

Once the slab is down, the footprint of all seven homes will be in place at ground level. The project will be visible at street level for the first time. Framing follows.

The seven homes at Hills Road Mews:
The Manor: 2 bedroom, painted weatherboard, from $675,000
The Mews: 3 bedroom, Canterbury clay brick, from $850,000
The Stables (Unit 7): 3 bed, 2-storey on a large lot priced at $925,000

All freehold title. Practical completion targeted for late 2026.

Another busy week on site at Hills Road Mews 🚧

We've shared six photos this week in the order they were taken, and together they tell the full story of how a piling operation comes together from start to finish.

The first photo is a dusk shot from early in the week. What looks like an empty site is actually fully prepared, those small caps placed across the ground are survey caps, each one protecting a precise mark that tells the rig exactly where every pile will go. Nothing moves until every point is located and protected.

By the following morning the site is coming alive. Machines are arriving, and the timber piles are staged along the boundary ready for installation.

Then the CLL displacement rig gets to work. The process is methodical: the displacement head is driven to 9 metres, compacting the surrounding soil outward as it goes. As the head is extracted, grout is injected into the void from depth. The timber pile is then pressed directly into the fresh grout column, locking everything together into a single continuous foundation element.

By the final photo, the concrete pump boom is arcing across the site and the rig is working steadily down the line. What started as a field of survey caps is becoming the foundations of something extraordinary.

We've broken ground on Hills Road Mews, and we didn't waste any time.

Consent was issued at 4:20pm yesterday. By 7:30 this morning, the machinery was already moving.
