Every home tells a story. This is mine.
This photograph captures a moment that, at the time, felt ordinary.
Today, I realise it represented the beginning of everything.
I was in my twenties, saying goodbye to my closest friend as she took a courageous leap of faith to begin a new life overseas. Sitting beside her is me (with the blonde, short hair) completely unaware that I was standing at the threshold of my own new chapter.
Around that same time, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life: purchasing my very first home.
For someone in their twenties, it was a bold commitment. Equal parts exciting, daunting and life changing. It taught me that buying property is never just a financial decision. It is deeply personal. It represents hope, security, ambition, and the belief that tomorrow can be better than today.
Looking back, that experience became the foundation of the way I serve my clients today.
Because I have stood exactly where many of them stand now.
I have experienced the anticipation, the uncertainty, the excitement, and the responsibility that comes with making one of life's biggest decisions.
Perhaps that is why real estate has never felt like a career to me.
It feels like coming home.
Property has always been woven into my life.
Growing up in Devonport, I was surrounded by real estate through my parents' independent agency. From an early age, I learned that real estate was never simply about houses.
It was about people.
It was about trust.
It was about guiding families through moments of change, celebrating new beginnings, and helping people move confidently from one chapter of life to the next.
While completing my Bachelor of Business at AUT, I worked full-time, beginning my professional career with Sony Music before accepting an opportunity that took me to Hong Kong with STAR Television's Channel [V].
Living and working internationally exposed me to extraordinary people, cultures and experiences. It challenged me professionally, broadened my perspective, and reinforced lessons that continue to shape my business today: genuine relationships matter, communication is everything, and trust is earned through consistency, authenticity and care.
When I returned to New Zealand, my passion for property became impossible to ignore.
Over the following decade, I immersed myself in residential renovation, design, rebuilding and property investment. Every project deepened my understanding of what makes a home truly special; not simply its architecture or location, but the life that unfolds within its walls.
I developed an appreciation for design, craftsmanship and value creation, but more importantly, I discovered the profound emotional connection people have with the places they call home.
At the age of 42, I made what many considered a significant career change.
To me, it wasn't a change at all.
It was the moment every previous chapter had quietly been preparing me for.
The business education.
The international media career.
The years renovating and investing in property.
The life experiences that brought both success and adversity.
Each chapter taught me something invaluable about people, resilience, empathy and leadership.
Together, they became the foundation of the real estate professional I am today.
Over the past decade, I have had the privilege of representing people through some of life's most meaningful transitions.
First-home buyers taking their first courageous step.
Growing families searching for room to create new memories.
Trustees entrusted with complex responsibilities.
Parents planning for future generations.
Retirees embracing a new season of life.
Families farewelling homes that have held decades of treasured memories.
These moments extend far beyond property.
They are moments built on trust.
And trust is something I never take for granted.
Every client deserves to feel genuinely heard.
To feel understood.
To know they have someone standing beside them who will advocate for their best interests with integrity, professionalism and unwavering commitment.
Real estate can be exciting.
It can also feel emotional, uncertain and overwhelming.
My role is to provide clarity where there is uncertainty, confidence where there is hesitation, and guidance that empowers people to make decisions with certainty and peace of mind.
Today, alongside my business partner Eden Thomson, I am proud to co-lead The EK Group at Ray White Megan Jaffe Real Estate.
Together, we have built a business founded on enduring relationships, exceptional service, strategic thinking and a genuine commitment to achieving the very best outcomes for every client we represent.
When I reflect on my journey, I don't see separate careers in media, marketing, property investment and real estate.
I see a lifetime of experiences that taught me how to listen deeply, understand people's aspirations, navigate complexity with confidence and advocate fiercely when it matters most.
Because, at the heart of everything I do, there remains one simple belief.
People always come first.
Homes are where life unfolds.
They witness first steps, family celebrations, quiet conversations, difficult goodbyes and extraordinary new beginnings.
They hold our memories, our milestones and our dreams for what lies ahead.
To be trusted with something so deeply personal is both an honour and a responsibility I never take lightly.
More than a decade into my real estate career, I remain just as passionate today as the day I began.
Helping people move forward.
Creating confidence through every decision.
Building relationships that last well beyond settlement.
One family.
One home.
One story at a time...
I thank you.
