What's your "why"? 🤔

In real estate, having a strong "why" is everything. It’s what gets you out of bed on a freezing winter morning when the market is quiet. It’s what drives you to pick up the phone and stay connected with people.

Unlike a corporate 8:30-to-5:30 role, real estate is an output role. You are directly rewarded—or disadvantaged—by your own input. You don't have that someone watching your clock, so it requires self-motivation.

My why? My boys.

Ten years ago, I took this photo of Jaxon and Blake in our backyard. Since I've coached them, directed them and now I'm watching them achieve their own goals, which has always been my 'why'.

Our journey 'so far' has just culminated in Blake being selected to play for the New Zealand U14 Indoor Cricket team at the World Series in South Africa this September! 🏏

Incredibly, Jaxon was also asked to play for the New Zealand U18 team at the same tournament, however due to a scheduling conflict with his school's First XI tour to Sri Lanka, he had to make the tough call to turn it down. But at just 16, Jaxon has already been selected for Auckland U14/U16/U18 Indoor and now U22, and has debuted at the Premier Level for both indoor cricket (North Harbour) and outdoor cricket (East Coast Bays). Heights I could have only dreamed of as a player myself!

It turns out, my true skillset is not playing, its the coaching and management. This year 4 boys from my U15 indoor team on the North Shore where selected for U14 Auckland as well as Jaxon and Blake and other older boys I've previously coached.

Just like in real estate, my job as a dad isn't to pressure them, it’s to guide, support, and direct them while letting them navigate their own journeys and decide what they want out of life.

My "why" might be a little different from other agents and stand me apart? I approach my clients the same way I approach my boys: I am here to guide vendors and buyers to achieve their real estate goals through unwavering support, deep experience, and local knowledge.

Demystifying auctions. 🔨

This week, Sophia, Ren, and myself talk through the auction process: what style of home and location it suits, and exactly what you should expect throughout the campaign.

When we released our first intro video a few weeks ago, we quickly realized there were a few foundational topics we needed to tackle early on for our customers. Because of that, we actually regrouped and reshot a lot of content to make sure we are properly walking both vendors and buyers through the journey.

As agents, we probably feel like everyone automatically understands auctions, deadlines, multi-offers and so on. But when the average person only sells a home every 7–8 years, it’s on us to simplify these processes for you.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be releasing more videos turning complex real estate topics into simple, coffee-style chats. ☕
