There’s something incredibly valuable about taking a step away from the day to day to learn, connect, and be inspired.

Property Managers' Day was exactly that.

It was fantastic to hear from such an amazing line up of speakers, spend time with colleagues from across the business, and reconnect with peers who all share the same goal, delivering exceptional service to our landlords and tenants.

I was also grateful for the opportunity to represent the Operational Excellence Team on one of the discussion panels. It was a privilege to share how our group is working behind the scenes to develop consistent systems, processes, and support that help Property Managers across Barfoot & Thompson deliver a high standard of operational excellence to every client, every day.

One of the things I love most about working at Barfoot & Thompson is our willingness to keep learning, sharing ideas, and investing in our people. When we grow together, everyone benefits – our teams, our clients, and the communities we serve.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in organising such a worthwhile day. I'm already looking forward to next year's event!

Not a bad way to spend an evening... sitting in the "best seats in the house" at the Mystics game! 🏐

I've been fortunate enough to attend Mystics games before, but getting to experience live sport from such a great vantage point never gets old. The atmosphere was incredible, and watching the speed, skill, and teamwork on display was something special.

It also made me reflect on how lucky I am to work for a company that values and supports sport. Sport has a unique way of bringing people together, creating connections, and showcasing what can be achieved when talented individuals work towards a common goal.

Just as importantly, supporting sport helps inspire future generations. Seeing athletes perform at the highest level gives young people role models to look up to and encourages them to get involved, stay active, and pursue their own goals and dreams.

Both require resilience, adaptability, and the ability to keep going when things get tough.

When you’re managing large portfolios, every day brings something different. Problems need solving, priorities change quickly, and sometimes you have to pick yourself up and move straight on to the next thing.

Now, I can’t say there was a lot of enthusiasm when we were collecting participants, but credit where it’s due, we got stuck in and gave it a go!

I love that when this team is challenged, whether it’s by a landlord, a tenant, a colleague, or apparently a burpee challenge - they show up, get involved, and give it their best.

Although I suspect most of them would rather deal with a maintenance emergency than another round of burpees!

back to an incredible cause ✨📚

A few of our team members recently had the privilege of spending time at Starship Children’s Hospital, helping the amazing Starship Foundation with stickering 1200 books for the Barfoot & Thompson “Magic of Reading” initiative.

This wonderful programme ensures that every child who stays overnight at Starship receives a book of their own to keep, bringing comfort, distraction, imagination, and a little bit of magic during what can be a challenging time for children and their families.

We were honoured to play a small part in supporting such a meaningful initiative.

A huge thank you to the Starship Foundation and Barfoot & Thompson for the incredible work they do to support tamariki and whānau across New Zealand. ❤️
