Stock on the market, is slowly increasing and the usual seasonal uplift in Spring is also expected. There are active buyers in the market, who have an appetite to transact with motivated sellers.
Open home attendance was steady, particularly for properties under $1.8m, and auction activity was steady and still effecting positive results. Owners are encouraged to come to the market now, before there is further competition on the market, especially post auction.
Excluding a development sell-down in July 2026, the median house price sits at $1,607,500, up 16% year-on-year.

May Stats ❄️

Given Australian tax legislation, there has been renewed interest in Australian buyers, purchasing in Queenstown.

Vendor expectations are not quite aligned with current market expectations. Attendance at open homes has been steady despite the typical early-winter slowdown, and auctions are seeing bidding across most properties, selling either under the hammer or shortly after auction.

Some positive activity in the top end asset class, with some good sales over $5 million in transactional value.

Moving forward, market activity should be relatively steady, with stock levels trending down slightly. The approaching ski season, may see continued interest from Australian buyers and wider NZ.
