I’m so proud to see it sitting proudly at #27 alongside even more New Zealand books and authors this year!

I sometimes wonder if I manifested this! To be nominated as a finalist at the 2026 New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults was very affirming and a big confidence boost as an emerging author! can’t thank the team at Hachette (Little Moa Books) enough including the beautiful illustrations from art by Terewai. I was inspired, encouraged and entertained the whole night. What an honour! A huge congratulations to all the winners! 🎉💕

Books Alive!
The very first Children’s Book week was a blast. I travelled to Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui in Poneke Wellington to celebrate books with over 20 finalists authors and illustrators from the 2026 New Zealand Book Awards for Children & Young Adults. I did a behind the book session about The Lost Words including songs, games and sharing our pepeha. Then joined the wonderful Swapna Haddow and Erica Harrison Erica Harrison for a Lightening talk panel. We had a great time chatting with the tamariki, answering some curve ball questions and of course hanging out together.

Six days at Auckland Writers Festival. Seven outfits.

I wanted to reflect where I come from and my personality in what I wore to AWF this year. Every look featured pieces by local and indigenous designers and artists whose work carries creativity, whakapapa, craft and culture in different ways.

9 Whitcoulls stores. 4 days. One unforgettable school holiday adventure!

We hit the road and visited 9 amazing Whitcoulls stores in just 4 days, filling our trip with fun, hands-on activities that kept the kids smiling every step of the way. It was epic and we loved every minute of it!
