A few highlights from recent Sketch Pad classes! 🎨

Our finished artworks over the last few weeks have often been less polish but more process! We’ve had an absolute blast experimenting, trying new techniques, getting messy, and seeing where our creativity takes us!

So instead of showcasing finished masterpieces, here’s a collection of some of the best bits—the colours, textures, ideas, laughter, and creative moments that made the sessions special.

Because every experiment teaches us something. Every new technique, happy accident, and creative challenge adds another skill to our artistic toolbox. 🧰✨

Together we’re building confidence, expanding our creativity, and collecting ideas that will inspire future work. We can’t wait to see where these skills take us as we dive into more exciting projects in the weeks ahead!

🐾🎨 THIS WEEK AT THE SKETCH PAD ART CLUB…
We’re going totally CRAZY for cats! 🎨😻

Our artists will be creating their very own “Crazy Cats” — each one bursting with personality, colour and imagination! From glamorous princess cats to rock star rebels, magical cats, funny cats and everything in between… there are NO rules in this art class except to be creative and have fun ✨

Using paint, markers, collage, sparkles and heaps of mixed media materials, everyone will design a unique cat character that tells its own story 🐈💖

Will your cat wear sunglasses?
A crown?
Roller skates?
A rainbow scarf?
Maybe even a leather jacket and electric guitar! 🎸⚡️

We can’t wait to see the wild, wonderful and hilarious creations our Sketch Pad artists come up with this week!

🌼✨ THIS WEEK AT THE SKETCH PAD ✨🌼

We’re diving into the colourful, psychedelic world of Yayoi Kusama! 🇯🇵🎨

Our young artists are creating bold pumpkins, magical flowers, trippy shapes and layered 3D artworks using dots, bright colours, paper plates, paint and LOTS of imagination 🌈🖤💛

Inspired by Kusama’s iconic dotted worlds, we’re exploring pattern, repetition and joyful self-expression! 🍄🌼🎃

This week at The Sketch Pad, our young artists explored mixed media and textiles to create their very own fantasy trees 🌿✨

Their imaginations ran wild as they built magical worlds hidden amongst the foliage — where bugs, circus performers, curious cats and exotic creatures all found a home amongst the branches 🍄🎪🐈🦋

Each child created a truly unique artwork filled with its own stories, secrets and tiny discoveries. We loved seeing their creativity come to life through layers of texture, colour and imagination 🖤

This week at The Sketch Pad we explored the magic of transfer tracing using oil pastels to create our own bugs and butterflies 🦋🐞

The concentration levels in the room were incredible as our young artists experimented with patterns, colour, texture and surprise prints! Every artwork turned out completely unique, with lots of excited reactions as the hidden designs were revealed ✨

Such a fantastic job from everyone this week — creativity, focus and imagination all shining bright 👏🖤

We kicked off Term 2 with such a fun, hands-on session in the sketch pad—our Bottle Bird Sculptures took flight! 🐦✨

Our young artists explored tin foil sculpting to build their bird forms, then layered paper and decorations to bring them to life with their own unique personalities. The room was full of laughter, creativity, and brilliant problem-solving as everyone got stuck in.

So proud of the energy and imagination this week—what a fantastic start to the term! 💛

And that’s a wrap on our final art class for the term at The Sketch Pad 🎨🖤

Tonight we finished the very first pieces we started back in week one—our Abstract Expressionism canvases—and what a journey they’ve been! The kids layered up their work with all sorts of mixed media, experimenting, taking risks, and really finding their own creative voice.

To bring it all together, we let loose with aerosols and added a bold smiley face stencil over the top—each one completely unique, full of energy, colour, and personality.

We are SO proud of these young artists. The confidence, creativity, and joy they’ve shown this term has been incredible to watch ✨

Bring on next term… we’ve got even more exciting projects coming! 💫
