🎨✨ Monet Meets Koi at The Sketch Pad! ✨🎨

Wow… we’re still smiling after seeing the incredible artwork from last week’s class! 💙

Our young artists explored the magic of Claude Monet’s Water Lilies, beginning by creating beautiful koi fish using finger painting—a wonderfully tactile technique that perfectly mimics the texture and patterns of shimmering scales. 🐟✨

Once our koi were swimming, we turned our attention to the pond itself, carefully building a watery world by layering transparent tissue paper. Just like Monet layered colour and light in his paintings, we discovered how transparent layers create depth, movement and those beautiful glowing reflections on the water.

The final results were simply breathtaking. Every single artwork was completely unique, full of personality, imagination and confidence. We couldn’t be prouder of what our Sketch Pad artists created.

🐠 This Week at The Sketch Pad – Magical Koi Ponds ✨

This week we’re diving into the beautiful world of the Impressionists, taking inspiration from Claude Monet and his famous Water Lilies. Instead of painting every detail, Monet layered colours and light to capture the feeling of being surrounded by nature.

Using delicate layers of colourful tissue paper, we’ll build our own shimmering, magical ponds where light dances across the water. As each transparent layer overlaps, new colours and textures will appear—just like sunlight reflecting on a peaceful pond.

Once our ponds are complete, we’ll bring them to life by adding a beautiful Koi fish, creating a vibrant artwork full of movement, colour and imagination.

Get ready to layer, collage, paint and discover how a little bit of light can create something truly magical! 🌸🪷✨

We’re travelling to Ghana, West Africa to discover the beautiful art of Kente weaving! 🇬🇭

Using colourful paper strips, our artists will create their own woven masterpieces inspired by the bold patterns and meaningful colours of traditional Kente cloth. Along the way we’ll learn how artists use colour, pattern and design to tell stories.

The Sketch Pad is an exciting weekly art class where creativity, confidence and friendships flourish in a fun, warm and welcoming environment.

✨ Term 3 starts Thursday 23rd July!

🕓 Every Thursday during term time | 4.00–5.30pm
💲 $25.00 per session – all materials included!

Each week we explore a different artist or art movement, experiment with a wide variety of materials and techniques, and create artwork that’s fun, unique and inspiring. From painting and drawing to sculpture, collage and mixed media, there’s always something exciting to discover!

🌈 We have just TWO spaces remaining for young artists aged 10 years and over.

☀️ End of Term at The Sketch Pad ☀️

What a beautiful way to wrap up another fantastic term! 💛

This week’s class was all about slowing down, enjoying the creative process, and celebrating positivity. Our amazing young artists used collage, yarn and colour to create symbolic suns, lions, and their own unique mystical interpretations of strength, hope and happiness. Every single artwork was completely different, and every one was bursting with imagination!

There were plenty of laughs, lots of chatting, a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere, and of course… some truly outstanding art. 🎨✨

A huge thank you to all of our incredible Sketch Pad artists. Your creativity, kindness and willingness to try new things make every Thursday afternoon so special. We absolutely love watching your confidence and artistic voices grow.

Today at The Sketch Pad… ROOOAAARRR! ☀️🦁

Today our young artists are creating bold paper and textile collages inspired by two powerful symbols of strength, courage and confidence – the mighty lion and the radiant sun!

With layers of colourful papers, fabrics and plenty of imagination, they’ll be exploring texture, pattern and creativity while making artwork that shines with personality.

Whether they choose to roar like a lion or glow like the sun, every masterpiece will be a celebration of bravery, resilience and letting their inner light shine.

We can’t wait to see what they create! 💛🧡

What a fantastic session at The Sketch Pad! 🎨💥

This week our young artists became the stars of their own masterpieces as they transformed photos of themselves into bold, colourful Pop Art portraits inspired by the iconic Andy Warhol.

Exploring bright colours, repetition and fearless creativity, each artist discovered just how much fun it is to turn an everyday photo into a vibrant work of art. The confidence, laughter and individuality that filled the room were every bit as colourful as the artwork itself!

We absolutely loved seeing every unique creation and can’t wait to share more of what our amazing artists create next. 🌈🩷

🎨✨ TOMORROW AT THE SKETCH PAD – POP ART!! ✨🎨
Using their very own photos, our young artists will become the stars of their own artworks as we dive into the bold, bright and colourful world of Pop Art!
Inspired by the legendary Andy Warhol, we’ll explore vibrant colours, striking contrasts and creative self-expression to transform ordinary images into extraordinary masterpieces.
Every artwork will be completely unique, reflecting each artist’s personality and imagination. We can’t wait to see the amazing creations they come up with and watch them shine as the stars of their own gallery-worthy works!

🌻✨ This week at The Sketch Pad we took inspiration from Vincent Van Gogh’s iconic Sunflowers and brought them to life with an exciting mix of materials and techniques!

Using papers, raffia, oil pastels, glue guns, and plenty of imagination, our young artists explored colour, texture, and creativity while putting their own unique spin on this world-famous masterpiece. 🌻

The classroom was buzzing with patience, problem-solving, and artistic flair as each sunflower artwork grew into something completely original. From vibrant oil pastel details to beautifully textured petals, every piece reflected the personality and creativity of its maker.

We are so proud of the focus, perseverance, and imagination shown by everyone this week. The finished artworks are absolutely stunning and a wonderful reminder that art is at its best when we make it our own! 💛🎨
