BATANGAS TO QUEZON: UNANG BAHAGI NG SLEX TR4, BUBUKSAN BAGO MAGTAPOS ANG TAON

Inaasahang bubuksan bago matapos ang Disyembre ang unang tatlong package ng South Luzon Expressway Toll Road 4 (SLEX TR4) na sasaklaw mula Sto. Tomas, Batangas hanggang Tiaong, Quezon, ayon kay Transportation Secretary Giovanni “Banoy” Lopez.

Kapag naging operational, mababawasan sa 30 minuto mula halos dalawang oras ang biyahe sa pagitan ng Sto. Tomas at Tiaong. Sa oras namang makumpleto ang buong proyekto, magiging isang oras na lamang ang biyahe mula Batangas hanggang Lucena City mula sa kasalukuyang apat na oras.

Tinatayang 17,000 motorista ang makikinabang araw-araw sa P58.4-bilyong SLEX TR4 project.

GOODBYE, LONG DRIVES?

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Banoy Lopez shared in an interview that a portion of the South Luzon Expressway Toll Road 4 (SLEX TR4), from Package A to Package C, will be operational by December.

The SLEX TR4 is a project of the DOTr in coordination with the Department of Public Works and Highways.

From the usual travel time of two hours, the trip for motorists from Sto. Tomas, Batangas to Tiaong, Quezon, and vice versa, will now take as little as 30 minutes.

Lopez added that once the SLEX TR4 is completed, the travel time from Batangas to Lucena will be slashed from four hours to just an hour!

“By end of this year, we can start using the TR4. Mai-inaugurate po natin ‘yan. Ang target natin diyan mga November, December start of operations of TR4. Ang usual travel time po natin diyan [para sa buong TR4] is four hours. Once mabuksan na po natin ang [buong] TR4 natin, magiging isang oras na lang po,” Lopez elaborated.

Upon completion, the SLEX TR4 is projected to serve around 17,000 motorists daily.
