This one was special.
It wasn't your typical home sale. It was months of planning, demolition, construction, and countless conversations trying to answer one big question. How do you move an entire house across town?
Would it fit on the new lot? Which direction should it face? Where do you set an entire house while you dig a new foundation? Do power lines need to come down? How many light poles and street signs have to be removed? And once it arrived, how much work would it take before it was ready for its next chapter?
Needless to say, my client had his work cut out for him. Watching this home make its journey across town was one of the most impressive things I've witnessed in my real estate career.
Once the home was settled on its new foundation, we knew it wouldn't be long before someone else fell in love with it. In fact, it never even officially hit the market. It sold almost immediately, and now a new family gets to create memories in a home with one incredible story.
For years, this house was known as 601 Lincoln St NE. Today, it begins a new chapter as 1301 Mulberry Drive NW.
You'd think helping move an entire house would be a once in a lifetime experience. But if the rumors are true, there may be an even bigger home getting the chance to start its next 100 years in a brand new location. Stay tuned.
