Have you ever noticed small openings at the bottom of a brick wall and wondered why they're there?
Those are called weep holes, and they're actually supposed to be there. Their job is to allow moisture that gets behind the brick to drain out instead of becoming trapped inside the wall.
In these photos, you'll notice some weep holes have screens while others don't. The screens help keep insects and pests from making themselves at home inside the wall cavity while still allowing water to drain properly.
Since some of the weep holes were missing screens, we recommended adding them as a simple way to help keep unwanted visitors out.
