☀️ Now this is a detail we love seeing on a new construction inspection! 👀

Check out the UV-protective jacket installed over the outdoor refrigerant line insulation. It's a small detail that can make a big difference in protecting your HVAC system!

Sun exposure can cause standard foam insulation to deteriorate over time, leaving refrigerant lines exposed and potentially reducing energy efficiency. A protective covering helps shield the insulation from UV damage and extends its useful life.

Not every inspection find is a problem! Sometimes we get to highlight the little things that were done right, too. 😄

🦇 Looks like we had an unexpected guest hanging around during this inspection! 😂

While checking out the attic, we spotted a bat taking a little break near the vent. Apparently, they wanted to supervise the inspection from above!

Bats can sometimes find their way into attics through small openings around vents, rooflines, and other exterior gaps. While they're great at helping control insect populations outdoors, you definitely don't want them making themselves at home inside your attic.

This little visitor gave us another reason to look closely at potential wildlife entry points!

🐍 Well, that's one way to shed your skin! 😅

Looks like something left a little souvenir behind in this crawlspace! During our inspection, we came across what appears to be a shed snake skin hanging from the framing.

Snakes shed their skin as they grow, and finding one inside a home can be a clue that wildlife has found a way in. Gaps around foundations, vents, and other openings can provide access to crawlspaces.

The good news? We only found the skin. The snake? That's another mystery! 😂

🛝 Who needs stairs when you can take the express route down? 😂

Well, this is something you don't see every day! During an inspection, we came across a deck with its very own spiral slide. Talk about making backyard fun a little more interesting!

While it's definitely a creative addition, slides attached to elevated decks need proper support, secure connections, and a safe landing area to help prevent injuries.

We love seeing unique features in the homes we inspect, but safety always comes first!

🕸️ Now that's some impressive web design! 🕷️

Looks like we came across a little eight-legged architect showing off its skills during an inspection! Orb-weaver spiders are known for creating intricate, circular webs that help them catch flying insects.

And here's a fun fact: Many orb-weavers rebuild portions of their webs regularly to keep them in working condition.

We appreciate good craftsmanship wherever we find it, even when it's hanging between a few branches! 😄

😅 Brand-new home, but this water heater vent has us scratching our heads!

During this new construction inspection, we found a water heater exhaust vent with several bends and an unusual installation. Proper venting is important because it helps safely carry combustion gases, including carbon monoxide, out of the home.

Vent sizing, slope, connections, and the manufacturer's installation requirements all matter. That's why even brand-new systems deserve a closer look before closing.

New construction doesn't always mean everything is done right! 🏠

🌳 Ever seen a tree slowly take over a gas line? Here you go. 😳

This old gas piping has ended up embedded in the tree as it grew around it over the years. Trees may grow slowly, but the pressure they create can eventually damage, shift, or stress anything caught in their path, and a gas line is definitely not something you want involved.

It’s a pretty wild example of why exterior inspections matter. Homes and their surroundings are constantly changing, even when it happens one tree ring at a time!
