NEWNAN, Ga. — Plans were approved this week for a Waffle House to be built on top of the Walmart in Newnan, a pairing officials say simply reflects reality. City documents describe the project as a response to the fact that both businesses already draw from the same steady stream of local customers, often on the same day and for similar reasons.
Developers noted that Walmart shoppers and Waffle House regulars overlap heavily, making the shared location an efficient use of space. “These are the same people,” one project representative said. “They’re buying groceries, motor oil, and lawn chairs, and then going straight to Waffle House anyway. This just removes the middle step.”
City leaders acknowledged the project may look unusual but said it matches long-standing local habits. By placing one on top of the other, officials say the development recognizes how Newnan residents already move between the two businesses, formally connecting what many consider an unofficial routine.
