Buying a house today is not the same as when your parents bought their first (or maybe even their last) house. The very best thing you can do is ask questions. Dip your toes in the market by having a conversation with the industry professionals to see if you’re ready to dive in. Next year might be a better option for you, and that’s okay! The best approach to real estate is strategy. You have to look ahead. Not everything will go as planned, but shooting from the hip will cost you time and money. A kitchen remodel will also cost you time and money if you don’t account for the door casing when you install the end cabinets.

The first conversation I have with buyers is about funding. Do you have hundreds of thousands of dollars in the bank? If so, great! If not, talk to the people who want to loan you money.
