Hatteras Island is open again! 😎

Good news! NC12 between the Basnight Bridge and Rodanthe has now been REOPENED. Please drive with care as there are still areas of light sand and standing water on the roadway.

UPDATE #2: The tide has receded, and NCDOT crews are working to clear the road north of Rodanthe. They hope to reopen by this afternoon however the road onto Hatteras is CLOSED at this time. The road through Buxton is open, but please be mindful when traveling.

ROAD CLOSED: Due to ocean overwash HWY12 is currently CLOSED at Mirlo Beach (north of Rodanthe) and also in Buxton at the motels.
