It’s Truck Driver Appreciation Week, so I couldn’t let the week go by without giving a shout-out to all the men and women behind the wheel. 🚛

For the past 10 years, trucking has been a pretty big part of our lives. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that most people see the trucks going down the highway, but they don’t always see everything that goes along with it.

Long days, nights away from home, breakdowns, weather, traffic, missed plans, waiting…and then some more waiting. 😂

It’s not always an easy way to make a living, but there are a whole lot of hardworking drivers out there every day keeping things moving.

And of course, a shout-out to all the furry co-pilots putting in the miles too. 🐾🚛 We’ve had a few over the years — Thunder, Happy Cat, and Pepper. ❤️

To all the drivers out there — thank you, stay safe, and keep the shiny side up! 🚛❤️

t’s hard to believe it’s been 25 years.

There are certain days you remember exactly where you were and what you were doing. September 11, 2001 is one of those days for me.

I was living in Hooversville and working in blood services for the Red Cross. That morning, I was doing something completely ordinary — looking at nursing homes for my grandma — when everything changed.

As we watched what was happening in New York and Washington, Flight 93 came down near Shanksville, right in our own community.

At my mom’s apartment building, a crew had been working on the roof that morning. We were later told the plane came over so low that the guys jumped off the roof. Not long after, members of the Hooversville Fire Department were responding to the crash site. Working in blood services for the Red Cross at the time, I remember wondering if I would be called out too.

I think that’s why September 11 has always felt so close to home for me. It wasn’t only something we were watching happen somewhere else. That morning, it touched our little corner of Pennsylvania too.

Today, 25 years later, we remember the 40 passengers and crew of Flight 93, all those who lost their lives in New York and at the Pentagon, and the first responders and ordinary people who stepped forward when they were needed.

We remember.

Well… this wasn't quite how we planned to spend Labor Day. 😂
About 100 miles from home, the truck decided we no longer needed a throttle. 🛑🤦‍♀️
Huge shout-out to Trucking for giving up part of their Labor Day and coming to our rescue with two trucks to get us and the trailer home. ❤️
Of course, once they arrived, ours fired up and acted perfectly fine... until the 🛑 engine light came back on while we were deciding whether to try driving it home. 😂
