Save this list for when you want to sell. 🏡🚨
These small things may not immediately spring to mind when you’re preparing for a house viewing, but human psychology means these are noticed, and they do make a difference.
❗The condition of the front door and the doormat, if these are dirty, old, or rotten, the brain immediately thinks these things of the house
❗Smells - These are good smells and bad smells; the age-old baking break to sell a home or to make consumers buy more in a supermarket is 100% a thing
❗Floors - If these are dirty, have pet hair or stains the brain immediately thinks that could cost money to replace or deep clean
❗Surfaces - If these are, dirty and stained again, this immediately makes us think the house is dirty and hasn’t been maintained, which in turn makes us wonder what else is lurking
❗Windows - Blown windows, smudges, dirt - All of these things are hugely notable especially on a sunny day and can make the home look unkept and uncared for
❗Sofa Cushions - This is a weird one but people notice the condition of these, if they are slumped and worn, this again creates a negative mindset
❗Clutter - This is a big one; most people simply CANNOT see past clutter on a viewing
❗Bathroom - Mold, Dirt, towels, and dirty floor mats all things that are noticed in a bathroom and can create a dirty house, expensive house mindset
❗Lighting - This can make specific spaces look darker or too light and bright so getting the lighting right is so important; it can transform a space
❗Oven—Please clean your oven; it's one of the things in the kitchen that can make a viewer feel a bit sick, which is not what we are going for
❗Microwave - Please clean the inside; people have a habit of opening doors on things, and if they open a filthy microwave then.....
❗Carpet Stains - Take care to clean any stains or use a rug even to cover any worn parts; viewers will associate new carpets with a lot of money needed when they move in
