๐ŸŒณThe worldโ€™s tallest tropical tree has been digitally reconstructed using GreenValley International LiDAR solutions.

Inside the ancient rainforests of the Conservation Area in Malaysian Borneo, large-scale UAV LiDAR surveys were conducted to generate high-precision 3D point cloud data across the forest ecosystem.

Through advanced workflows including ground classification, height normalization, and individual tree segmentation, we identified not only the tallest tree in the forest, but also:
โ€ข 118 trees taller than 70 meters
โ€ข 26 trees taller than 80 meters

To precisely determine the height of the worldโ€™s tallest tropical tree, UAV and handheld LiDAR systems were integrated to capture the tree from the forest floor to the canopy crown.

The final result confirmed a Shorea faguetiana at 98.3 meters in height (measured from the seed point), maintaining its status as:
โ€ข The worldโ€™s tallest tropical tree
โ€ข The tallest flowering plant on Earth
โ€ข The second tallest tree in Asia

The large-scale LiDAR dataset also provides valuable support for rainforest conservation, biomass estimation, biodiversity research, and carbon sequestration studies.
