If you own a home in the Quad Cities, you know Midwest summers don't play around...
A little preparation now can help you avoid expensive surprises later.
☀️ HEAT PREP
☐ Have your HVAC serviced before the July peak. Don't wait until it breaks.
☐ Install a programmable or smart thermostat if you don't have one.
☐ Add attic insulation. It's one of the biggest factors in cooling efficiency.
☐ Seal gaps around windows and doors with weatherstripping.
☐ Plant shade trees on the west side of your home for long-term cooling benefits.
☐ Install window film or blackout curtains in west-facing rooms.
⛈️ STORM PREP
☐ Trim tree branches within 10 feet of your roofline. A QC essential.
☐ Secure or store outdoor furniture before severe weather arrives.
☐ Know where your main water shutoff is. Flooding can happen fast.
☐ Check your sump pump before heavy rain season.
☐ Photograph your home and belongings for insurance purposes.
☐ Keep a 72-hour emergency kit easily accessible.
The Quad Cities gives us some incredible summers. A little preparation helps you spend more time enjoying them and less time dealing with unexpected repairs.
