I want you to imagine you are on your way to work knowing you are leaving later that afternoon for your first family vacation in YEARS.
You are driving down a main road singing to 92.5 XTU and you watch in slow motion as a car from the other side drifts into your lane, there is no time to move out the way so you brace for impact.
You hear the crunch of the metal from in front of you, the slamming of the car into a surface from behind and see this white pillow coming at your face.
This was my reality on October 7, 2011. The next four days were a blur at the hospital. Coming home and meeting with the police officer to hear my side, which fell into line with the 3 other witnesses helped ease the concern I feared that I was at fault. I was not.
A woman driving the other vehicle was distracted, crossed over a main intersection into my lane, totaled my car, and caused me permanent hardware with forever pain. Today, Paul Miller's Law is now in effect.
When you are driving, put the phone down and focus on driving and remember my story - don't repeat it.
