SCAM ALERT!!! For my listing at 639 Fisher Avenue in East Liverpool, I've had TWO instances where someone is trying to infect computers and do damage while trying to act as interested buyers. We as agents get excited when someone shows interest in our listings, and we'll often go to great lengths to connect a buyer to our seller.
These scammers state that they are interested in the listing and have cash to purchase. They explain that they are out of the area (usually the country) for the next few days, but would like to meet via Zoom to discuss. When they send a Zoom link, it's instead a virus that could infect one's computer.
If you're a realtor or someone selling home by owner, be cautious if you get this type of request. Ask for a phone call or some other way to share information, but the Zoom scam has been becoming more popular.
As an IT person, my guard is usually up for anything that seems a little suspicious, so be aware and be vigilant. These people are evil and pray on the good and vulnerable. Be safe out there!!!
