This roof looks fine from the street—but up close, the shingles tell a very different story.

The homeowner is the original owner, and this is the original CertainTeed roof. You can see the problem much more clearly from up here. We’re documenting what we found and helping the homeowner with a claim to the manufacturer.

Let me show you what we’re seeing.

What’s Under Your Roof Matters: Inside a CertainTeed Roof Replacement in Garden City, Idaho

Shingles are only the part you see. On this Garden City roof replacement, Hawaiian Built Roofing installed a complete CertainTeed Integrity Roof System, with CertainTeed underlayment, starter, shingles, hip & ridge and ventilation all designed to work together.

Why a complete system matters:
✔️ Every component is built to work together, so the roof performs as one unit
✔️ We never mix manufacturers, which keeps the roof eligible for CertainTeed’s extended SureStart PLUS warranties
✔️ It’s installed to manufacturer specifications, which most early roof failures trace back to

How we document it: we take 50–70 photos on every job, so homeowners can see exactly what went into their roof, including the layers that end up covered.

Hawaiian Built Roofing is a family-owned CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster since 2015, serving Boise, Garden City, Eagle, Meridian, Kuna, Star, Nampa and Caldwell.

What Does a 50-Year Non-Prorated Roof Warranty Mean? A Garden City, Idaho Example

“Lifetime warranty” sounds great until you read the fine print. Many standard shingle warranties are prorated, which means the coverage shrinks as your roof ages.

This Garden City roof replacement is being registered for CertainTeed SureStart PLUS 4-Star coverage:
✔️ 50 years of protection against manufacturing defects
✔️ Non-prorated, so coverage doesn’t shrink as the roof ages
✔️ Available only on a complete CertainTeed Integrity Roof System installed by a credentialed contractor

Want even more protection? As a CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster since 2015, Hawaiian Built Roofing can also offer 5-Star coverage, which adds protection for installation workmanship. Only SELECT ShingleMasters can offer it.

Warranty terms and transfer limits are set by CertainTeed, and we’ll walk you through the details for your home.

Family-owned and serving Boise, Garden City, Eagle, Meridian, Kuna, Star, Nampa and Caldwell. Call (208) 214-8808 for a free estimate.

A Roof Is Too Important to Pay for Twice

When you compare roofing estimates in Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Star, Kuna, or Nampa, the lowest price can be tempting. But an estimate is only useful when you understand what it includes—and what may be missing.

A roof is more than shingles. The finished roofing system may include roof decking, underlayment, ice and water protection where required, flashing, ventilation, starter shingles, ridge caps, and the installation details that bring those parts together. If important work is left out or installed incorrectly, the roof may not perform as expected. The warranty protection you thought you were getting may also depend on the products used, installation requirements, and whether the project qualifies.

At Hawaiian Built Roofing, we help homeowners understand the roofing system behind the price before they sign a contract. We serve Boise and the Treasure Valley, including Meridian, Eagle, Star, Kuna, and Nampa.

What should a roofing estimate include?

A beautiful roof deserves attention beyond the shingles. 🏠

While working on this CertainTeed roof replacement in Rivers End, Eagle, Idaho, Ben found that the openings beneath the existing roof vents were too small. Our crew enlarged them to help the vents function as intended.

That’s why roof ventilation belongs in the conversation alongside shingles, flashing, and underlayment. The details matter.
